Anyway. See the subtitles are here: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... ovie-55577
I might have a go at ripping both films from that DVD source and doing a 720p Topaz enhance job on them.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's where I originally got the subtitles from. The disc came with none. I made a few corrections but mostly it's unchanged, then I muxed them onto the disc. I routinely make certain alterations to full DVDs like removing the crap that plays on loading so the disc boots straight to the main menu. If it has extra audio tracks - like those horrible Russian voiceovers - I get rid of them. Sloppily added tracks sometimes cause a DVD to behave oddly during playback.

Unfortunately no subs appear to exist for the second film, Les inséparables ... and I looked hard for them. Wanted to sub both movies. If anyone here has a set or knows French and is actually willing to sub the film themselves that would be amazing!

I have also been searching for subtitles for the second film. I'd even be willing to create a blank SRT file with timing information if a French speaker was willing to fill it in with the French dialog.

deadman wrote:This DVD contains both La traversée du phare (1999) and its sequel Les inséparables (2001), starring the lovely Katty Loisel at age 11 and 13 respectively. I didn't know whether to post it in this thread or the one for Les inséparables so I decided to do the full post here and put a link to it there.

The first film is a really wonderful love story between a pair of kids, Eric and Marie. They meet, develop a strong bond, get separated by adults, then find their way back to each other. The second film sees Eric adopted by Marie's understanding stepparents from the first film (who even allow them to sleep in the same bed together!). Unfortunately I could find subtitles only for La Traversée du phare. None seem to exist for Les inséparables, even in the native French. So I added the subs to my disc for the first film. You can certainly watch the second without them and get the gist of it, but there are undoubtedly a lot of particulars we miss. If anyone has subtitles, or more likely speaks French and is willing to create them, they'd be welcome!
I downloaded that 7gb ISO, and had a go at ripping this.
I tried Smart Ripper 2.41 I end up with Les inséparables and a corrupt other film! Even when I click on 2 different film items showing different lengths.
When I tried ISO opener all the VOB's are Inseperables. See screenshots. Totally bizarre! Have you tried extracting that ISO - I think something about it is non-standard and it's confusing all the programs I try!
Was wanting to try and Topaz the first film 'La traversée du phare (1999)' - but it seems I can't extract it! Weirdly, VLC can click and play it - but I can't rip it! Wasted hours trying to solve it :( Can you try and upload just La traversée du phare, somewhere as a single DVD file, thanks!
Also, I used to burn DVD's - but only ever bought DVD5's, never any dual-layers. They were more expensive per GB, and less reliable for long term storage.

David32441: If you want a .vob file of the movie, containing all tracks, use DVD Decrypter. Select IFO mode. Go into Tools-->Settings, go to the IFO Mode tab, and on the left (directly under the word Options) it says File Splitting. Select None, then click OK. This will give you a single .vob (VTS_01_1.VOB) which is the entire movie merged into one file.

If Topaz needs a full DVD structure to work with, you can always use VOB Edit and MuxMan to create one. At least that's how I do it. If you open the files in an MKV editor like MKVMerge and join them by appending one file to the next, you often get flawed joins - the video glitches and skips at the join points. The flaws can survive processing so you don't want that.

Like Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator - Topaz can dock with everything I give it. Drop in a joined VOB, an AVI, a MKV. It's cool. It will only pick the first audio track from a file and will only encode that to 96kbit - but that's not a problem as I normally am muxing the audio from the original file.
Give it a go. It'll work (all-be-it incredibly slowly) on Windows 10. You just have to have Windows 10. It comes into it's element when you spend $300+ on a graphics card. Without that it's going to be 10x slower.
