There are quite a few versions here, can anyone tell me which one has the best quality?

The ARTHORIUS dvdrips had aspect ratio problems, but I don't remember what they were!

For direct download, the DVD iso at ulozto (two posts above yours, by reptile12) is a quality PAL-576p disc and the aspect ratio is correct.

However, I prefer the "phantasmic secret sharer" version that is a dvdrip recode with the aspect ratio fixed. I have now reshared it and it is posted here:

I'm seeing some hard subtitles on the video - but not in English :(
Anyone know if any subtitles exist - I looked on https://www.opensubtitles.org/en - but no luck

They are hardcoded Italian subtitles for the Polish dialogue. The Italian dialogue parts have no subtitles.

Ah, that explains why they're only in some scenes. Well they could be transcribed and translated in a translator - but I notice they're not for the 3 scenes the girl is in in the film. Maybe a good thing - wouldn't have wanted hard subtitles there! So I guess no italian (or any other language) subtitles have been found? I downloaded the full DVD rip and there's nothing in the DVD sadly.

Well, I certainly LOOKED multiple times for external subtitles. Someone else could certainly have better success than I did.

I have done that a couple times, even for partial subtitles. Whether it is done manually by typing them out or instead by using a slightly more automated method to capture and OCR the hardcoding, it is a lot of work. There are posts somewhere at FLM about the automated method, which I struggled with and gave up on.

I think I've seen even a video by someone about removing the subtitles with a clever mask and then once translated, writing the English over the top! That's a real clever trick! Think Ghost did it on something before. Requires a long complicated script and Virtual Dub if I recall correctly.
Seems that the girl is only in 3 scenes in this film. I was going to do a 720p upscale - but as no subtitles and such a short appearance it's not much point.
