Ogon (2016)

Directed by:
Nadezhda Zakharova

From ART's MegaPost:
Fire - Russia - 2016 - 58 mins

Plot
A small Mongolian girl lights the fire and feeds the flame that spreads like a wolf's howl in the steppe. Like fire, this film grows on itself, in the rhythm and movement of the montage.

or

Hard to find much info, but looks like the director released the short through this company:

Anyway, kudos to ART for bringing this film to our attention! :bigups :D

When I checked YouTube and Vimeo all I got was the trailer..

........

Just finished watching this. WOW!! :eyecrazy

What a totally non-linear, rambling, abstract, slice-of-life 58 mins of celluloid we have here.. :think

The little synopsis/blurb on the film is somewhat misleading:
Plot:
A small Mongolian girl lights the fire and feeds the flame that spreads like a wolf's howl in the steppe...

The fire doesn't even get lit until the end of the film.

The last line really describes the entire film best:
...Like fire, this film grows on itself, in the rhythm and movement of the montage.

The film is like a montage of everyday life in this particular small little village. There's minimal dialogue [most of it subtitled], and for the most part the camera is a bit intrusive to the villagers made obvious by their constantly staring into it.. The children are the most disconcerting of all in that most stare into the camera with blank, vacant expressions..

Still it was an interesting watch. Kinda reminded me of those Harmony Korine indie oddities; 'Gummo' and 'Julien Donkey Boy'; but without the nasty stuff...

Anyway, glad it's here; thanks again saoman. :) (The kids are the most engaging parts of the film, despite their vacant, wandering gazes..)
