http://imdb.com/title/tt0478702[Image]11-year-old Maroa eeks out a living with her drug addicted grandmother in a Caracas slum, selling porn magazines and saint's images. Their friend Carlos and his gang teach her stealing. To ingratiate herself, she betrays a planned drug deal but gets arrested. A police officer involved in the deal, forces her to make a statement, even tries to rape her, but Maroa defends herself and is put away in a children's home. There and at school she has to struggle with the other kids. When one day she hears a clarinet playing, she's fascinated immediately. With the aid of the music, the teacher Joaquín succeeds in bringing joy in Maroa's life again. Between them an intensive relationship develops which changes both of their lives.
Still she has to beware of the police officer though.
