RARBG has a 1.53 GB 1080p HEVC, also with English subs.

I give it a try and it looks good, but I noticed that the used mp4 codec is not working with Quicktime. I can only open it with VLC. There must be something with the codec, but I know that Quicktime is very strict.

HEVC = H265 = pain in the ass codec!

I usually have problems with it in VLC on my underpowered machine, even though VLC is supposedly good for H265. I haven't used Quicktime in over a decade, so I can not compare.

HEVC / H265 works beautifully playing it through my 4k Blu-ray player.

MPC-BE at SourceForge is supposed to be good for H265, but again my machine subverts its capabilities. It also seems to be Windows-only. The fact that you are using Quicktime suggests you may be using Mac, so if that is the case then VLC is your best choice.

Disclaimer: I have not downloaded this particular file.

Yes, I'm a very long time Mac user and Quicktime is often the first choice.
And if I have trouble with something, I can check it with VLC and if it's work, I put it in handbrake to convert it.

I try to research a bit before you post, but found nothing. Now, as you say the point with HEVC I go over it again and read, that older Hardware are have trouble to decode the new Codec because of the processor. That News is from 2017 and my Mac is from 2013. On my newer iPhone it can work, but I will not test it now because I need to transfer that Gigabytes first and takes to much time ;-)

So I learn today that HVEC using less power from the device, needs less space but it's not compatible with older Hardware.

Everything you say fits with my experience. My computer is from 2014, and it just does not have enough processing power. HEVC / H265 is great because it gets high quality in less space than H264. I used to convert H265 files into larger H264 files so I could play them on my weak computer, but that takes a lot of time. So as long as I can play enough of it to get subtitles synced, I just watch them through my blu-ray player on my TV.

I don't know if you have seen this particular movie before, but it is well worth your time!

Do check out RARBG - there are several versions there, not just the HEVC version I mentioned. I prefer HEVC because it is likely to give a better quality to file size ratio, which is good for me because I'm sharing these from a laptop with a 1 TB disk, so disk space is at a premium.
