Renaming files

Post by Phuzzy4242 »   0 likes

I've long had a "filing" system that renames the movies I download into something like "Movie Name, The (YEAR).avi" (for example "Alex in Wonderland (1970).avi"). This is so I can find the file easily and also makes putting them in an index like Ant Movie Catalog (which I recommend highly) a lot easier. I do this not to take away credit for someone's hard work in encoding and/or posting (for which I'm deeply grateful), but because until I started using eMule I was too paranoid to post (or re-post) anything myself so it made no difference.

I've downloaded a bunch of movies based on the great links in this forum and I move them to either a "Movies" folder if I haven't watched them yet or a "Done" folder if I have. Both these folders are in eMule's setup and I leave them shared on the hard drive so I can give some payback. My question is whether it's OK that I rename them - will this screw anybody up? I know the file hash is the same, I just don't want to make it harder for people to get the files. If renaming them causes problems, I can create a folder to copy the original to, and burn the renamed file to DVD and remove it from the hard drive.

What's the wisdom of the forum on this?[/u]
