Iv spent a whole Saturday pulling my hair out just to have emule working like it was not long

I don't see nothing wrong with your processes either... But to my mind, the main problem comes from your modem.
If you do not want this info "public", please tell me via MP your ISP's name : I will be able to do some research about similar problems with this particular isp.
I'm sorry, I'm really doing my best for you...

OK, good news. Iv logged in to the hub. I tried rebooting it and that worked for some reason. What do I do now?

eMule is working good now ?
Else, if you can enter your hub parameters, there is an option to "open ports" (straight translation from the French, sorry). The best is to open a port for your equipment using its physical address, and not the IP address, as a reference : doing so, even if your IP changes, your MAC (physical) address never changes, the hub can allow your ports open.
Now you need to know what your TCP config is on emule (go to the preferences menu, Connexion -> write down somewhere the TCP and UDP numbers). These numbers are the ones you have to specify to open a port for your computer.
As an explanation, your hub uses its own "firewall" (even if it's not one, it's easier to explain), so if your IP has no exception allowed, the hub blocks anything coming in or going out, to avoid anyone to take control of your local network (including the hub and all your computers).

Exactly what you need !
Now choose a name (f.e. LBemule), start and end port : both the same, the one that you saw in eMule Prefs. If you choose the number in the TCP case, then choose TCP as protocol., the IP should be your pc's IP, then Enable.... for some hubs, you have to restart the hub to have the effects applied. Try without rebooting after changing, if it doesn't work, reboot the hub. Don't forget to disconnect/reconnect emule, too. You're close !!
