here is a documentary (in German but YT offers the possibility to have an online subtitle in other
languages).
They were called "wolf-children" - thousands of girls and boys who lost their parents in flight and expulsion in 1945 and fled in the first years under Soviet occupation in the woods, where they fought for the bare survival. They were the last victims of the Second World War. The film recapitulates the moving fate of five siblings from East Prussia.
The story of Rudi, Sieglinde, Irmgard, Waltraud and Ulli Liedke, all between six and 13 years old, faced starvation in the winter of 1946/47. Where should the siblings go? Without parents, without shelter, without food, they expected a slow death in East Prussia. In neighboring Lithuania, it was said that there should be farmers who gave food to children. But the way there was agonizing and dangerous. Driven by hunger, the children moved through the Lithuanian forests and villages, from farm to farm and begged for the necessities.
