Synopsis:
imdb wrote:The story concerns a middle aged housewife & mother, named Inga who is trapped in a withering marriage to a type A,stressed out businessman who only seems to care about work. Inga is a cancer survivor, who has had a mastectomy earlier. She is drawn to an old house that constantly reminds her of the house she grew up in as a child. There is constant unhappiness in both their lives. Their daughter,Indigo is caught up in all of this, which makes for some well played out drama. Marcia Gay Harden makes the most of the role she is given. The film also gets some solid support from her co star,Michael Gaston as her cold, distant husband,Hermann, and a winning role from Ms.Harden's real life daughter,Eulala Scheel),who has to contend with her parent's constant bickering & ever growing alcoholism. This film contains some adult situations, some of which are fairly disturbing, and pervasive drinking & smoking in front of a minor.
Again, starring Oscar* winner Marcia Gay Harden, and introducing [her real-life 8yo daughter] Eulala Scheel. :heart

"...You're NOT my mommy!!!" A pretty emotional confrontation between daughter and drunken mom..

(I don't know why there's such a color shift to all these pix, as I didn't notice the film being so dark with fluorescent shading when I watched it..)

I found it pretty intense at times, as the family is dealing with breast cancer and alcohol abuse and the effect it has on the ones you love most. Not everyone's cup of tea, obviously; but WELL worth a watch for the performance of Eulala: She's positively adorable!! :heart :heart :heart

i saw this post and was very confused. i knew i had a couple of movies with this same title. but the cover and screencaps did not match any of them. after checking my archives i found a movie from the same year but completely different from this one. :think
i was able to find a used copy of this little gem, that i now have on order.

Thanks Kev for posting this :thumbsup if you had not posted it... it would have easily been overlooked and never been added to my collection. :cool

Oddly enough when using our [wonderfully spectacular ;)] 'Search' program I got;
FLM Search wrote:No topics or posts met your search criteria
I know there's a lot of drivel about 'catch words' and so much technical crap that isn't worth a shiite if the function doesn't work right.

I mean it's a 4 letter word: 'HOME'...

It's not 'a', 'the', 'and', 'it', ect, ect... It's a noun. It describes a place; 'home'...

AND [the cherry on top] we DO have a movie here with that title!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... php?t=5804

Type in 'Children' and you get 101 hits; BUT [another cherry] not one of them have 'Children' in the friggin' title until a third of the way down the second page!!!!!!!

http://first-loves.com/modules.php?name ... de=results

Proponents of our search function can defend it until they turn blue: Yet... Something is wrong here... :wall...

*whew*

Anyway, thanks for responding, ptg. You're right, there's a number of movies with the title 'Home'.

I was excited to find THIS movie, and entranced by Eulala Scheel. The pivotal scene where her mom drives her to tears is absolutely heart-wrenching.. Very well done.

OK.. And...? :think

Oh, sorry... You just wanted to reiterate a fact that a number of posts have ALREADY established, (with much more acuity, I might add, than your mundane, absolutely useless statement), and add nothing else to the thread. No problem..

At least you gave the thread a little bump. :thumbsup

I'd actually be kind of interested in seeing this one again... My apartment got flooded last year and THIS was one of the many DVD's I lost in the disaster.. :wall

Zorijer's comment suggests what seems to be true: it is impossible to find THIS version of "Home" with any other source than the emule link here. The post may have been made out of frustration. As soon as I saw Unigami's post I began looking for alternate versions and hoping to find an upgrade. It was easy to find many sources for the Isabelle Huppert film from 2008. This one, NOTHING. *I* was certainly frustrated, because I hate there being only one free source for any movie.

And I consider it a crime against humanity for any filmmaker to give their movie a generic name that is used by everyone else too.
