SYNOPSIS:
PIX:When the daughter of the town's new priest goes missing during the harvest festival, a desperate search begins, uncovering the town's dark history and resurfacing tales of a mysterious, malevolent spirit that demands sacrifice.
Rebecca Holland is a priest who has recently relocated to a small Irish village, taking with her husband Henry and their 10 year old daughter Grace.
Rebecca might be bringing the word of the Lord, but the villagers cling to ancient beliefs, their celebration of harvest festival appearing to honor something older than Christianity. Little Grace is invited to be the festival’s ‘Harvest Angel’ but lest this be seen as something benign and charming, the village chief Jocelyn Abney takes it very seriously in his guise as the Lord of Misrule. During the festival he goes to battle with a horned satanic figure named Gallowgog, as part of the ritual.
A desperate search for young Grace daughter ensues when she disappears during the festival.

The daughter Grace is played by
Unfortunately this is one of those movies where the main child of interest disappears 15 minutes into the film, popping up a few times here and there in [don't-blink-your-eyes] short dream or vision sequences.
I've read a number of reviews panning the film for slipping into the usual 'Folk-Horror' tropes and one even panning it for taking an innocuous, almost forgotten piece of British folklore and creating a horror movie from it..
While I guess it does; I mean, c'mon: Having your daughter named 'Harvest Angel' in a town's pagan ritual celebration HAS to have some ominous overtones to it.. Still, I found the story engaging and the characters worth investing my time and emotions. (Despite the stereotypical stupid things that people do / don't do in movies like this..)
Plus I just thought Evie Templeton as Grace was absolutely uber-cute! I loved the angel outfit she wore.
Also noteable [as she had close to the amount of screen-time that Evie did] is

All in all, I enjoyed this movie [better than Hereditary and Midsommar put toghther.
