I really hate that Netflix is unsearchable unless one has a membership. If the search was public, I could at least verify whether or not there actually IS an English subtitle option out there, somewhere, waiting, or if I should just do the old quick machine translate. I finished the Swedish/Swedish torrent while I slept and am continuing to help share it.

I noticed that I did not come across a German-dubbed version either, which I find odd considering how faithful and attached they have been to other Lindgren adaptations. Maybe the German and English speakers are just not as interested in torrenting as other countries are?

Since it has been done after the book some phrases what they say are samw or similar as in previous (1984) adaption.

First I was very sceptical because I'm sure this series can't have the magic the 1984 movie has. But I'll give it a chance and will start watching it.

English translation:

This Thursday, March 28, part one (with six episodes) of a new real-life series of "Ronja the Robber's Daughter" aka Ronja the Robber's Daughter (2024) starts on Netflix in Scandinavia, the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands. The adventure series is of course based on the popular children's book by Astrid Lindgren. In Germany, however, an ARD channel will be showing the European co-production, but it is not yet known exactly when.

I started watching it and noticed all the Netflix dubs credited at the end, and continued to wonder about the absence of Germany. ARD is certainly appropriate, and perhaps they are funding their OWN German dub, rather than depending on Netflix employees. I can't even tell the difference between "television" and "streaming" anymore, so I actually thought of Netflix as "television"! I am going to check out the English dub even though I prefer original languages always. I had not even noticed that it was in Forthcoming here at FLM, so glad that you did, ghost.

Some brief reactions to the two episodes I have seen so far with definite spoilers:

Spoiler: Nothing will replace the original in my heart, but I definitely liked the first episode. Perhaps that was because of all the Memberberries in it. (https://southpark.fandom.com/wiki/Membe ... he%20past.) They started out true to the original story, with much of the same dialog, and actors well-cast for the characters. Mattis is noticeably less of a childish buffoon, however. However ... there are additional characters and plot developments with no parallel in the original. Specifically, the corrupt lawman and the people in the nearby town. I am not quite sure how I feel about them yet. This might be a case where a Fanedit is necessary, eliminating the non-Ronja additions that are clearly there only to pad it out to a 9-hour series. (Assuming part 2 coming later is the same length as part 1.) And I am beginning to see the reason for the comparison to Game of Thrones, unfortunately. One thing that series was known for other than the sex and nudity was its casual brutality. I don't want that in a children's show, no thanks. In the second episode the main new villain shows some unexpected cruelty to animals, totally unnecessary for the story. "Oooh, look how vicious this guy is, he must be evil." Astrid Lindgren campaigned for much of her life against animal abuse and she would be appalled. Pippi reacted with fury against bullies and mistreatment of animals, so Astrid made her own feelings very clear on the subject. She did not just put it in HER work as a throw-away scene. WTF! I am now concerned and hope they do not go all-out torture porn like GoT.

I eatched the first episode and... not so horrible so far.. That corrupted lawman who was blibd if received some bucks from robbers....
don't remember if something that was in book but at least it was realistic... I suppose robbers bribed lawmen all over the world

I've watched the first 3 episodes this evening. Sure, it's not the 1984 movie and they added some other things to the story, but not bad at all...
