Thank you guys, I love this movie, it has beautiful scenery, pretty redheads, and unique and consistent pacing and sound throughout.

I love that running scene in it.

Well, I was wrong about that.. She's not a chubster at all. She's a cute, well proportioned 11yo girl! :heart

DEFINITELY a 'ginger', though. ;)

I fell in love with this one too, though it took me awhile.. I came into the movie thinking it was a 'Documentary', which is what it is listed as. Having not read anything beforehand, I was expecting more of a linear type docu, focusing on the effects of the coal industry in a small coal town as seen through the eyes of a child. It most definitely is NOT that. :think

One article I read [after watching the movie] wrote:
docalogue.com wrote:...Though it is a documentary, watching King Coal feels like inhabiting a lyric poem or a folk tale...
I can agree with that. :heart It is a beautiful film as Amelia said; lyrical and ethereal at times.

I've found that reflecting on the film I have a few favorite parts:
Spoiler:

First off, I loved some of the cuts: Juxtaposing a scene inside a mine shaft with a similar scene in the forest..

[Image][Image]

I'm also kinda nutty about fireflies.. :heart I just love those glowey little bastards!!! So scenes that highlight the blinking buggers holds a special excitement for me... :heart

Then there was the dancing... :heart :heart
[Image][Image]

My particular fave was the cutting [again] back and forth from a Town Celebration/Memorial to her dancing alone in a warehouse and in the forest:

[Image][Image][Image]

There was also a short silhouetted scene with her starting to climb a tree that I thought was kinda cool..
[Image][Image]

Then, of course; the running.. [Image] The running... [Image] The running... [Image]
I don't think anything I posted in the 'Spoiler' will actually 'spoil' someones enjoyment of the film; I'm just keeping my bases covered.. :P

(Sweet, Holy Hey-sus!!! :wall I HATE the way 'spoiler'ing screws with the pix and the Smilies.. I'm leaving it this way to show other admin the problem and see if there might be a 'Fix' for this.. :think )

Seriously; this is a beautiful, lyrical, slice-of-life, visual feast of a film.. :heart :heart :heart

I hope many members are able to watch and enjoy this movie...

Say what? Hmmm, that is what IMDB says. It never even occurred to me at all. (Although at first I did see the description saying "coal miner's daughter" and I immediately thought of a biopic about Loretta Lynn.) I am certainly not going to move it to the "Documentaries" section...
I HATE the way 'spoiler'ing screws with the pix and the Smilies..
I did not see any problem at all -- but I am used to websites all over the net being distorted depending on how large I have the screen expanded. Experimenting, I did not have any weird overlarge smilies until 110%, and pictures can easily move around at every size increment for me. This is not just FLM. It is my monitor, the browser I use, and many webpages. I simply assumed that with variations, others encountered the same.

Thanks for the review!

Sometimes the board software will do this on mobile devices. I've never had that happen on a desktop.

This was an unexpected side-effect of the mobile fix. Please clear the cache and try again. It should be fixed now.
