I have been arguing for 2 days if deciding if I should write my point of view about the film.

I have not seen the movie and I do not think I see it, because I do not like how it transforms a great literary work, I loved Tom Sawyer and his adventures only Mark Twain would be furious because they transformed him into a girl, I had already seen similar things like ghostbusters only The fans were insulted, he also discussed whether or not there would be a 'Jane' Bond, or maybe a 'John' Eyre and I suppose that Oliver Twist would also be a girl but he would not know what to call him, the best part of the story was his love for Becky I suppose there will be a lesbian kiss.

If this film with its new narrative made me change my mind, it would be something very characteristic that is likely not to be seen in this film.

1. Tomasina and Huck swim down the Mississippi.
2. His school teacher punishes him often, for his crazy things, I even remember that Tom endured a reprimand to protect Becky.

I haven't watched it yet either, but the glimpses I got while skipping through it indicate that the scenes you mentioned are there. Even the fence whitewashing is there, and Injun Joe. Appears to be watchable. Unfortunately there's some very urgent work I'm tied up with. Will update once I'm done with that.
