The 1958 movie was terrific! Although now I understand why the author may have felt that the conclusion was a little too neat and tidy. It was typical and almost obligatory for crime thrillers of the era, so I have to forgive it.
For Zsofia's video of the 1958 movie, the full English subtitles needed to be fixed, so I ripped and fixed them.

It was the one language that messed up the encoding of the umlaut vowels!
All the other languages looked good to me.Matthäi = Matthäi
Mägendorf = Mägendorf
Graubünden = Graubünden
Also, a note about the "forced" subtitles. They are of course typical for on-screen text that needs to be translated, and they were used here for that. However, there were also several lines of dialog that were apparently cut from the various original international dubbed release versions of the film. (Spanish, English, Italian.) So when listening to those dubs, the original German takes the place of the lines that were left out of the dub. The forced subtitle tracks translate those sections. (It looks like the French version and therefore the French dub is complete, because there are no forced French subtitles.) How would you like to edit and remux the audio and subtitles in that situation, Goku?
