Yeah, this appears to be one of those sites that sells downloaded files burned to DVD when no commercial release exists. Notice how they use that same old movie poster. A legit release would show front and back images of the jacket.

I must admit my interest in the film has lowered since I’ve watched some of it (especially the cringe/funny s3x scene where she screams in a ridiculous way). I came to the realization that it’s not even close to the quality of films like „Sara“ (1997) which I have started to watch and was really surprised by how damn good the directing, writing, acting, camera and stunt work is. Truly SO SO much better than all the expectations Ive had for this film! I still gotta finish it, was too late at night but I was truly impressed - always assumed it’s your typical cheap B-movie or something.

Yes, it’s different to other European (French, German) and American films but not less good. Just different.

Anyways, this probably belongs in the thread of „Sara“ so I’ll stop.

With „Menina Do Lado“, it just bothers me in general that only a shitty quality version exists when the film was actually shot on 35mm (and the Film Rolls actually still exist).

Maybe one das I’ll be able to get a hold of the Japanese LaserDisc of the film. Should be superior to the VHS/VHStoDVD transfers.

Looks better than the old tvrip‘s with the logo! @deadman check it out. Looks promising albeit still horrendous low quality (like a really bad dvd transfer or vhsrip) but still a little bit better than the previous publicly shared versions.

Also wondering how official/legit that „producers“ offering on Vimeo is. Like does he have the blessing of the original production company?

Unfortunately the Vimeo link only allows renting/streaming, no DRM-Free download like Mosel the Time on Vimeo. I guess we’d have to bypass the drm with StreamFab or similar.

It is also still possible that he just used a Higher quality clip and then the actual full film will be the same version that’s Still even available on YouTube.

Now I just wonder how we could have missed this 2015 Vimeo upload all this time..? Many thanks @Night!

Appears to be a very slight improvement over existing versions (minus the TV station logo).

Most movies are owned by somebody or some corporation somewhere, often having no connection to the original production. The director is dead, although co-writer / AD / producer Elisa Tolomelli seems to be alive. Maybe we could ask her? I don't know what kind of copyright-vetting is done by Vimeo for paid content. This Vimeo channel owner Saulo Moretzsohn was in college at the time the movie was made, according to his F***book page. He may have acquired the rights later.

I also know that online trailers often look like crud, even if the movie looks better. Paying someone to restore a trailer is often low on the list of priorities, particularly for low budget productions. But it does not exactly inspire anyone to fork over money for a rental.

I have never done paid streaming ever, but I know that some people routinely do so and record the result. Of course it takes someone who is actually interested in the movie!

He would just be begging for a beating, then, which seems rather foolish and unlikely. That does not seem very "PRO" as the video is labeled. I am going to assume a legitimate SD source unless there is proof otherwise.
