It is a reference to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Even though Russian (the pistol) and Czech (the film) are closely related languages, I would suspect a mere coincidence of words.

Spoiler: The Nagant M1895 Revolver is a seven-shot, gas-seal revolver designed and produced by Belgian industrialist Léon Nagant for the Russian Empire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagant_M1895 OK, it is a Russian and later Soviet weapon produced by and named after a Belgian!

Description :
Inspired by the victory of the Czech national ice hockey team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, 11-year-old Dominik gets the idea to assemble a team from his classmates. At first, things are not going well, when suddenly the boy finds out that his grandfather was a hockey goalie in the past. One of the parents volunteers to train ambitious boys so that they can meet in a decisive confrontation with the snobby high school students.

So I think all they are shooting are hockey pucks into goals.

Fear not everyone, while checking the proper sync of the subtitles I could tell that this is indeed a heart-warming family film and the only blood I saw was from a skinned knee ... not from any gunshots!
