How to use the eMule links

Post by moviegirls »   0 likes

Do you just click on the eMule links in posts like normal or is there some other way of accessing the files? I tried clicking and I get a blank page, page not found thing. I found a few by searching on eMule but some that are suppose to be there aren't. Any ideas?

Hi moviegirls

The blank page is normal and wont take you anywhere, but by clicking the link it causes eMule to queue the file without doing a search.

If the link is correct and emule is running then it will work

I have never ever had a situation where by clicking a link a file never become queued.

You need to have em running and it should pop up a box saying now downloading xxx, alternatively, check the emule log on the servers page and it will tell you. If you are already downlaoding xxx, you will not get a pop up box, but it will give a one liner to that effect in the log.

Normally, none of the above mentioned things should happen.

At first, you need to configure your eMule client to "watch the clipboard" for ed2k links. Then you can copy any link from any webpage and eMule will ask if you want to add this to your queue.

Secondly, it depends on what browser you use. On IE nothing happens, it is just added to the download queue. In Opera it might happen that Opera asks how to handle this protocol type. Then you need to configure Opera to open the emule.exe when clicking an ed2k link. After this and as long eMule is running, it is also added silently.

Actually everything happens on mine just the way I have said (using FF browser) and I am happy with that.

You can of course also do it manually -- right click and "Copy shortcut" to the clipboard, then paste into eMule using the "Paste ed2k links" option under "Tools". This has the advantage of working if your eMule is running on a different machine than the one you are browsing on, plus you can specify the category to use.

(This assumes if you are using a separate eMule machine you can easily get the clipboard to it -- I use VNC remote control software to check my other machine when I am on my laptop, and VNC copies the clipboard over automatically. You can also paste the link into the eMule web interface.)
