I noticed. Lisabet does generally look to her older sister as a role model, even though she thinks she is out of her head some of the time. But I figure the actress was watching her so that they would get dressed in sync with each other, as the director intended.

Director:"OK, put on your stockings on the outside of the camera frame ... now, put on your stockings in the center of the camera frame ..."

Girls: "Huh??"

Machine-translated from Swedish:
Her scenes we remember, climbed the roof and fell! In reality, it was a stunt girl with a tightrope walking on the roof. "The close-ups show Jonna balancing on a fake roof, built just a couple of meters high. The distant images show a girl from a circus school who really had to walk on a roof. She had safety lines of course. I wasn't jealous of her at all, says Jonna. Year 2008.”

Features a few pictures of Jonna Liljendahl (Madicken) as an adult.

That was an interesting read. Hopefully the experience wasn't too rough for the poor girl since she gave acting up. You were pretty much spot on about that scene as well.

Oh well she can just always be Madicken to me. Wonder what shed think of a random American guy in his 30s wanting her autograph

Creeepy in her teens, probably amusing now in her 50s with grown children.

Jonna knew right away when Madicken was over that acting was not for her. Little sister Lisabet (Liv Alsterlund) continued to at least young adulthood on film. I don't know about theatrical work.

Most of the tabloid articles I read were about Lindgren movie child actors who fled the limelight: Madicken, Emil, Ronja & Birk and others. Also Pippi, who eventually accepted her famous early role but struggled to find acting roles where her coworkers would not assume she only got the job because she was Pippi! The headlines suggested more lurid stories than the actual boring revelations. It's a fact that lots of child actors don't stay in the business. Anyone they could dig up always spoke about what a wonderful woman Astrid was. If they had any dirt on the Swedish movie business they kept quiet about it.

The only way id ever try is if she were an adult at a convention so it's never gonna happen, just wishful thinking. But I'd never ask a child for their autograph even if I really wanted it lol. That would just be too awkweird.

Anyway I'm glad it was likely just the job was too demanding or at least to the best of our knowledge.

I think it is OK to ask a child actor for an autograph at a controlled event where that is expected: a movie promotion or film festival where they meet and interact with those attending. Certainly not randomly out on the street! At a film festival they are safely surrounded by their escorts, and security is nearby.

Of course my idea of acceptable public behaviour with strangers is courtesy towards adults, and even BETTER behaviour toward children. Take that as a given and there will be no problems.

Thanks for the Mia pic! I had not (re-)checked out that scene yet. You are right, her expression is priceless.

What sticks in my mind are the parts before and after the roof picnic: Lisabet petulant because SHE does not get to go on a school trip, and then excited when her sympathetic big sister suggests they go on their own excursion; Lisabet wailing in despair that "Madicken is dead!" when she is lying motionless on the ground. (I suppose that one is more the sound of her voice than an image.) I know the truth, but my heart aches for the distraught Lisabet every time.

Yes  She looks so pissed and then she is immediately happy. I noticed this face right after she pushes Madicken...

Did she want to laugh? Very brief break in character?

And here's this just because it's cute. I hope Lis Nilheim did actually have a good relationship on set with the girls, they have such good chemistry.

Night457, what about episode 6? Another classic with so many memorable moments....

Madicken sad over Rickard vanishing forever, learning about how lies compound and become harder and harder to keep straight, and that we all lie from time to time.

-I love the shot where it turns from winter to spring. I suppose they did film in different seasons.
-This episode also reminded me that Sweden still has a constitutional monarchy when she shows her scrawling on the queen's photo.

-I love when they explore around Inus-Ida's(is that her name?) house like kids would actually do.
-I love when Lisabet says, "They're in America, not Chicago!"

-The girl fight! is great. It looks like they are really fighting. Makes me wonder how many takes it took to get it right.

-I edited these two shots together so we could see Madicken crying to the song and Lisabet's knowing smile.
-Madicken makes the dubious claim that she won the fight...definitely questionable...

The girls in bed praying for Mia's soul because she said "bastard" and "hussy" is sweet, and shows even after the fight they have some sympathy for them. Actually, sometimes a tussle can bring two people closer together. I remember in school joking with some kids after we'd get into fights.

Sidenote, but I have heard Sweden is a very secular country, so I was surprised by the religious themes throughout. Was Astrid raised religious?

Finally, this is my spirit animal traveling around asking people nicely to watch this show.

Someone made a video dedication to Rickard?
