Triela, you might be right. It's been a while since I've downloaded something from tubi (by the way, they have quite a good movie collection), and they might have upgraded their security features. I'll give it a try myself.

edit:

I got it to work for me.

Triela, I found it easier to put all the exe files in the same directory. Are you sure you have the correct files? yt-dlp.exe, ffmpeg.exe?

ANYONE - am I forgetting anything about the installation?
Any Windows 10 users have to do anything special in "installing" yt-dlp?
No, all I did was download it the way you first described (back when everyone was using ytdl), and when that didn't work, I figured out I needed ffmeg. All you do in windows 10 is extract the files to a directory. I think we have to look at what file Triela is using.

One other thing. It's been a while since I've updated yt-dlp. Perhaps the new version is unable to work around tubiTV? Can anyone verify this? If that's the case, I'll post the version I have.

EDIT: If you can play the TUBI link in your browser, then downloading it should not be a problem. If it is geo-restricted in your browser, then yt-dlp may or may not get around it.

I typed the following before I even noticed pillowbaker's post.

In your second example I noticed you typed
yt-dlp.exe
and not
yt-dlp
(without the extension).
I did the same and got similar errors. I continued with your examples and it got worse and worse and my yt-dlp was destroyed, ha ha! So I downloaded it again. My computer is so ancient that *I* had to download

yt-dlp_x86.exe FOR Windows (Vista SP2+) standalone x86 (32-bit) binary

but I think you are beyond that.

I then renamed the .exe file to "yt-dlp.exe" because I don't feel like typing "yt-dlp_x86" as a a command. I did not do any "installation", just had the .exe in a folder.

Also I saw you used the codecs folder with ffmpeg. I don't know if it would make a difference, but I would have ffmpeg.exe COPIED in a separate folder JUST for yt-dlp! Do not even bother with your Programs\codecs folder. They are small files, you can spare the disc space for a separate copy.

See here at GitHub for ffmpeg (and ffprobe also!):
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp#:~:tex ... he%20build

(DISCLAIMER: I just tried the links at the above, and I have NO idea how I managed to get the ffmpeg version that I need for my 32-bit computer. If I lose the files, I am in trouble. You may be able to assume that the version you already HAVE on your computer is up-to-date and just COPY it over to the new folder. My understanding is that if you don't have ffmpeg with yt-dlp, then it will not automatically mux together certain files that download as separate audio and video files. In that case, you would have to use your favorite video remuxer to assemble the two parts.)

Please try ONE more time! For me?
  • Use a copy of ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe and your version of yt-dlp.exe in its own separate folder.
  • Use this command:
[Code]

dEAR nNIGHT.
The damn thing is geo-blocked, and i can view it in Opera cos of the VPN but not with yt-dlp. If it's not too much to ask, can you dl "Outerworld" https://tubitv.com/movies/652550/outerworld and either eMule it, or Ulozto it?

Thanks. I understand if you don't wanna, of course! No probs.

Or, if you know of a clever way to use YT-DLP inside Opera, when it can piggyback on its VPN ....

P.S.
the git hub YT-DLP user confirmed it's geo-blocked, search, using that as a keyword.

Dagnabbit! That does make the difference I guess. Sometime for fun you can try yt-dlp on something that is NOT blocked for your region, to see if it will work in general for you. It is a fantastic tool.

No idea at all. Anyone? Anyone? There are free stand-alone VPNs supposedly, but I do not know that I would trust installing them. I can allow myself to use in-browser software that only involves installing an extension at worst, but that is probably my limit.

"Outerworld" is totally NOT an FLM movie as I don't see any kids, but it is low-budget scifi so I am interested. Film links below:
Spoiler:

Uploaded here in 634p with subtitles if anyone wants it:
https://ulozto.net/tamhle/wojONUv7GBLw/ ... kIzEyZD==

It happens to be a 78 minute, shortened re-edit of Beyond the Rising Moon (1987).

Here is a 528p version of that original film, which is actually 97 minutes instead of IMDB's stated 84 minutes. Also included are external sub/idx Russian subtitles, and a 14 minute "Making of Outerworld" featurette:

 Thanks for your willingness to help, pillowbaker! I actually already addressed this with Triela by PM, along with the posted-about "Outerworld". Anyone curious, see below:
Spoiler:

The Tubi movie linked as an example in the failed-downloading discussion was Termination (2019). https://tubitv.com/movies/584759/termination
It is NOT an FLM-type movie AT ALL, from what I can tell from my brief scroll through. I did not see any kids in it. (It is not yet another "Terminator" movie either.) But I DID manage to download it while trying out for myself what Triela was doing, so I uploaded it to ulozto too. If you want this scifi omnibus but can not download from Tubi due to georestriction, you can get it here--

Aside from the heroine, there's just one speaking role for females. There's a disembodied female computer voice or something but that's IT.
but it is low-budget scifi so I am interested.
Exactly the reason I wanted to see it in the first place. It's good, almost "The Terminator (1984)" quality.
This could be a point of discussion:
1-Is that one a better movie?
2-Did people think so at the time?
3-If yes, WHY do you think it's better?
4-Also, is Tracy Davis (Pentan) an attractive woman, or not? i'm not sure...

Dagnabbit! Here is yet another off-topic post by me.

Re my previous post:
viewtopic.php?p=107162#p107162

The subtitles for the off-topic "Termination" were out-of sync so I resynced them, and updated the ulozto links.

I just used this command to download a playlist. I was gonna ask you, Night, but then I asked the Bing AI... and figured the rest out for my self. Cos the Bing AI gave a bit of a BS answer.....

[Code] In bold are the variables or those watchamacallits. it worked like a charm
