Storyline:

There are two versions of "Toire No Hanako-san." The first version, released in 1995, was set in an elementary school and centered on a boy named Takuya and a new transfer student named Saeko (Maeda Ai plays Takuya's younger brother). Takuya's classmates think that Saeko has been possessed by Hanako, the ghost that lives in the bathroom. The rumor is especially encouraged by a girl who has a crush on Takuya and is jealous since Takuya likes Saeko. The second version, released in 1998, centers on a group of high school girls (among them Maeda Ai and Nomura Yuka) who inadvertently release a demonic doll from a shrine outside of their school. Maeda Ai stars in both versions, although she plays a boy in the first movie, and a girl in the second. Prior to the second movie, there was a 1997 video series "Toire No Hanako-san, " that also dealt with a group of high school girls and their encounters with the infamous Hanako.

On the tracker, there were of course some funny remarks in the comments section, and I am not too mature to not find some of them funny:

Around July 2023, this horror film was re-broadcast on wowow, a Japanese online TV station.

A few months ago, a horror film enthusiast recorded this show and uploaded screenshots of the film to a rating website called Douban.

I tried to contact the person who posted the screenshot on douban, but I didn't get any reply.
Regarding the Taiwanese pirated DVD and Taiwanese pirated VCD of this film, the clarity and resolution are not much different from the version on YouTube.

Many Japanese viewers said that they had a deep memory of watching this horror film when they were children. They can still remember it even after a long time. They are not sure what the magic is. It should be that horror films in the genre of ghost stories have a deep influence in Japan. There is also a film called Ai Maeda's child actors made an impression on Japan's young audiences. As for the horror plot and special effects, they feel very sloppy and crude and should only scare children.
