I am glad SOME direct-download links still work. It has been a rough year with zippyshare closing down and now ulozto public sharing ending, and in between free Mega sharing getting size limits. The HARD limit seemed to be 5Gb but I can not be sure. This looked like this one SHOULD work with its smaller total size and multiple parts. Of course you would not be able to download other Mega movies the same day.dogbear12 wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 3:27 am Thanks, I was trying to download it from the other Mega link but it kept giving me a download limit with a timer that would keep restarting. The multiple RARs worked for me![]()

Personally I have zero issues with mega , even their bigger files.Night457 wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:32 amI am glad SOME direct-download links still work. I am able to bypass any limits and restrictions. What I find more fascinating is that they removed a file from my mega that I imported from another mega link and they removed the file from my mega due to the original file apparently getting reported or flagged. This is interesting considering they advertise themselves with their encryption all the time and that „no one knows your files“. They clearly use some hashing or detection.
We also lost anonfiles.com/hayfiles.com This year and filehorst.de which is regularly used by TNT has recently also disabled the upload of any new files.

How? Paid account? Or don't you know?goku33 wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:17 pm Personally I have zero issues with mega , even their bigger files.

Oh, THEY know. Very good point. This is interesting considering they advertise themselves with their encryption all the time and that „no one knows your files“. They clearly use some hashing or detection.

Re: MEGA download
I looked into this in the past but I think now I found my answer, they most likely don’t do hashing of the files themselves but they do keep track of all links and will know you have imported folder/film „xyz“ from @deadman for example. But to mega there would be no connection between your and deadman’s files if you re-uploaded the film to your own mega account.Night457 wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 2:45 pmOh, THEY know. Re: MEGA download
Imported files aren't actually copied. Even though they count against your storage capacity they're just links to the file on the uploader's account. So if the file is removed for copyright violation, deleted by the user, or their account is closed, it disappears from your account too. As goku points out though, they don't seem to compare hashes so unlike some services, future uploads of a taken-down file won't fail. As far as MEGA is concerned your copy (if uploaded the traditional way to your account) is a unique and separate thing from the one they took down.
Re: MEGA download
But that’s the thing and what confuses me: as far as I can’t tell, I have had many files I imported where the original links were taken down/deleted or even the entire original uploader account closed for violation of Mega‘s ToS.deadman wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:11 pm Imported files aren't actually copied. LOL maybe I should test it by reporting my own uploads and importing them to other accounts before lmao

You don't need to do that. Just take down the file yourself, and see if it remains available on the accounts you imported it into.
Re: MEGA download
I will try that.deadman wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2023 5:30 pmgoku33 wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:17 pmLOL maybe I should test it by reporting my own uploads and importing them to other accounts before lmao

The thing with files taken down due to reporting is, I was even still able to view the thumbnails in the browser. But downloading them failed.
It was the first time years that Imported files were inaccessible to me. I was convince that files stay there even if the original link/uploader got suspended
Re: MEGA download
Probably done for legal reasons. From technical point of view, it would be logical that a file is physically deleted after it has no references anymore.goku33 wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 3:59 am It was the first time years that Imported files were inaccessible to me.
