For me the audio is clipping/making scractching sounds - but maybe this was fixed also, or it's the source film? I've not seen anyone else comment about this though.ghost wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 1:58 am I watched my upscale finally. I made it from the PAL DVD posted on blizzardkid. And this damned DVD has an error at about 01:05:11 and 50 seconds of the movie are missing!
The best (complete) source I found was a DVD-Rip with hardcoded English subtitles.
So, here's the new link (and it even looks better):

Ouch, that static. My ear memory says "analog TV bad VHS." Anyone else with old ears but more audio education to verify my impression? Maybe the original film and soundtrack was lost and the best print was from a dubbed source, with a videotape recording having to be used for the Swedish sound?

That's what I'd say too. The DVD wasn't made from the original film footage. I really think, the got the sound from a VHS tape or something.Maybe the original film and soundtrack was lost and the best print was from a dubbed source, with a videotape recording having to be used for the Swedish sound?

ok, so, being in the same boat as you (as it were) now i'm 'officially' curious... which scene
Re: [REL] Barnens ö AKA Children's Island (1980)
Out of curiosity I went through and downloaded the available options, including 3 from blizzardkid. I already knew that ghost's would have the best video, but I found that it ALSO has better AUDIO than some of the other versions out there. The sound is all compromised, which is a shame because of the great 1970s synth music on the soundtrack! Ah well, if the static gets too much for some scenes I will lower the volume and just pay attention to the subtitles.
Oh yeah, thank you very much ghost!
