I'd be interested in seeing how this compares to the full DVD shared here as well as the upscale that pop found. Make sure you download it if you haven't already! We'll figure out how to share it afterwards.

I have already downloaded it.
I have two working premium links. I don't know how long they will still be valid.
I will send them to you on prive.

Does anyone have this film with English audio? Or English subtitles timed to Ghost's file?
I have 2 versions:
Polish over-dub AVi + english SRT file (was a google translate from the polish subtitles on https://www.opensubtitles.org/en) - 1.36GB
Ghosts mkv upscale - 2.00GB (obviously the far better video!)

I tried matching the english subtitles to the Ghost upscale - they don't match at all!
There's definitely edits going on between the 2 versions!
Both films are within 25 seconds in length and both are based on a 25fps source (a Polish overdub AVI and Ghosts German mkv). When I lined up the subtitles at the opening intro printed text it's off by 15 seconds after only 3 minutes. When I line them up to that scene at 3 minutes they're off everywhere else! Would have to be copy-pasting bits and doing time addition/subtractions until I found the added/deleted scenes.

The reason for a Polish version might be the polish director / origin. Wikipedia says:
Directed by Maciej Dejczer
Starring
Til Schweiger
Polly Walker
Music by Michal Lorenc
Release date
7 November 1997
Running time
102 minutes
Country Poland
Language English

Yes, I guess they made a different cut for the German DVD. :(

The version I wrote about has an English language audio track.

Here is a link to a warez where you can download it.

EDIT: Sorry, but this link is no longer valid. The rights holder has responded. It was up to date until a few days ago.
Try searching on torrents or on uloz.t

Yes, multiple copies. See below for the better ones.
Or English subtitles timed to Ghost's file?
No, the German version is a different cut.

(Mostly) English versions:

Deadman's PAL DVD: viewtopic.php?p=80462#p80462
(If it is not on eMule, there are MEGA and Ulozto links.)

Popdrome's 1080p upscale:
viewtopic.php?p=93185#p93185
(I just reshared it now.)

Ulozto 720p with English or Polish audio:
viewtopic.php?p=104465#p104465

maria2012 has a post about some of the differences in the German version:

Thanks for the comprehensive summary!
The Ulozto one didn't give me a link in Jdownloader 2 for some reason. And at 9gb I'd want that. It's also a x265 which can be better quality.
The Popdrome one is English but (as I commented before) suffers from quite bad mpeg blocking as it's compressed to only 1.1gb. x265 is best for small files, saving about 25% of the space for the same quality as x264 - but can't perform miracles when given hardly any data for a naturally grainy source.
Given time I might get the English DVD and try my own upscale. Making a 4gb x264 file.

Really? I just tried it and it works for me in JD2. Are you by chance using a German IP? That is one of the countries that blocks ulozto. If so, can you switch your IP to another country, such as with a VPN?

And I really would not care to try a 9Gb download in a browser for fear the connection would break. JD2 allows resuming the download if that happens.

If a blocking country is not the issue, try it again and see what happens.

Night457 wrote: Fri Jun 02, 2023 3:55 pm By the way, I found this 720p 9.5Gb file at ulozto:
https : //ulozto.net/file/Gb0kWAetuCB5/bandyta-1997-remaster-720p-x265-dts-6ch-ac3-2ch-lektor-pl-napisy-mkv#!ZGOyLmR2ZwN5ZQx3BQN2ZGxmA2V1BGIPD3ICGxD5n1SiBGRkLD==

I have downloaded it to verify. It says this:
BRUTE 1997 FULL MOVIE REMASTERED
(film with 5.1 soundtrack without voiceover and with 2.0 soundtrack with voiceover, pl subtitles)
EDIT: Has two audio tracks. One is the mostly English audio, and the other is a full Polish dub.

Of course Ulozto does not allow public sharing anymore, so this file is no longer available there for anyone but the original uploader. I split the file into RARs and uploaded them to MEGA.

They will be available at MEGA as long as MEGA allows public sharing and does not delete files.

If this exceeds your MEGA download quota, you will have to change your IP address to continue with the remaining parts.

I watched it again - great film. I tried timing my subtitles to fit the film, they didn't fit. So I retimed them. The polish subtitles I found ages ago actually translate some of the non-English audio track. I'll work on editing a non-English set of subtitles and release them one day if anyone else is interested in knowing what the kids are saying.

Agreed, a very good film, I rewatched it the other day with the improved quality and would love to add it to my physical collection but I see it's only available on DVD and hard to find at that.
