[REL] Ronja the Robbers Daughter (2024) [Netflix Series]
Re: Ronja the Robbers Daughter (2024) [Sweden]
Unfortunately the only cultural reference of young lovers for most people is R&J, the worst possible role models, total idiots, I always hated that damn play. This does at least have two children from warring families who get together, so the comparison is legitimate. But Ronja and Birk develop their relationship more gradually, they aren't ready yet for mattress bouncing, and I don't think the creators will decide to have them commit suicide!
Jeez, this damn stretching things out as long as possible annoys me. Just finish it and be done with it! If it is good enough I will watch it again! I am a little concerned about the mention of a "notorious bailiff." One of the things I liked about Ronja is that The Law was portrayed as quite legitimately being on the opposing side, but there was no need to have a moustache-twirling cackling villain. It was really about the two families. If they turn it into Robin Hood vs. the Sheriff of Nottingham, I don't need that at all.

The last line from Rsiian review (GT translated it qute well) underlined/made bold the most horrible part
A strong friendship soon began between the young people, which marked the beginning of a romantic story about a beautiful and at the same time impossible and desperate love between medieval Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare meets Lindgren?

Here's one in swedish finding it mid: https://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/ ... ovardotter
and one danish is roasting it and calling Ronja for a "spoiled kid in world that rhymes with westeros that'll make Astrid Lindgren turn in her grave" https://www.ekkofilm.dk/anmeldelser/ron ... tter-2024/
Watching it something just feels off though. like the magic is not there. and why it's split in two parts is a mystery for me.
Re: Ronja the Robbers Daughter (2024) [Sweden]
I confess I did not even go to any of the reviews that would require me to make the effort of a page translation! I took a quick look at the English. Technically I would rather make up my own mind, as I don't need any encouragement to criticize. It just comes naturally.
WTF???? Possibly the reviewer was reading more into the story than was actually there... hopefully. Clearly the two were falling in love and were not simply going to consider themselves just "brother and sister" forever. That was Ronja's naive suggestion, and in the1984 adaptation even Birk was skeptical of that, and his mother knew it was nonsense. SHE knows what happens when youngsters get together! But "impossible and desperate"??? No way, it was really POSSIBLE, they are PERFECT for each other, with a relationship that is a model of sensitivity and mutual respect, even though they do realistically squabble when stressed.
Ugh, yet another series compared to GameOfThrones! Don't the viewers remember how much they seemingly all hated how THAT one ended? That is not something to emulate! If they made Ronja and Birk ACTUALLY real siblings by blood, THEN it would be like GoT! I can't imagine they actually did that, however. I dunno if Astrid would be quite so upset as to turn in her grave for what the result actually is, but while she was alive she made certain to write her own scripts and approve her own directors, after early film adaptations disappointed her.SomeoneFromNorth wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:42 pm and one danish is roasting it and calling Ronja for a "spoiled kid in world that rhymes with westeros that'll make Astrid Lindgren turn in her grave"

Thank you ferdi! I looked for torrents the day of release for the show, but I was too early. I really appreciate you narrowing down the choices so I can go right to what I want!

I was terrified I would hate the 2014 Japanime series and was put off by the weird animation at first, but I gradually got into it. Ultimately I watched the entire 26-episode run at least 4 times (in Japanese, English, and Swedish) so I guess I warmed up to it and liked it. So maybe I should give this one a chance despite the worrying press. My only question is whether I should do a single day marathon viewing to get it over with if I hate it, or take it one episode at a time so I have a chance to adapt to it? Hmmm...
Yesterday I watched the 1984 version yet again and loved it. That will never change.

UPDATED POST:
Czech dub, with over 100 Seeders:
https://bt4gprx.com/magnet/c1ghsEW6Dkot ... SHtUGsDDAA
Also at bt4grpx.com are multiple files of "Ronja la hija del bandolero", which I am betting are likely Spanish dub or sub. And there is one that seems to be a Polish dub. And a Hungarian version.
Now Netflix and torrenters ... an English subtitle option?
