Get a smaller file?

Seriously now, that is one huge file. It is clearly an uncompressed rip of the 4k UHD. (And I see it is complete with TWO Atmos files, so I guess it has both cuts.) Is your playback monitor 4k UHD? I also see that this is HEVC codec (aka h265). I personally have had problems with H265 playback, but I am assuming that it is because my computer is seriously underpowered; they play back fine through my 4k player. My computer monitor is also only 1080p. I would imagine that 4k files would not play well (or at all) on them.

Now, if your monitor is 4k UHD, your computer is modern and powerful, and VLC is updated -- then I am out of ideas and you will need advice from someone with a similarly advanced setup.

By the way, terrific movie! One of my favorites.

Wow thanks DaveTheBoss! You are indeed the... Boss of providing direct links!

Are the "international edition" and the "extended remastered edition" the same? Are they the same runtime?

I don't think so, logically no...

IMDB is inconsistent in its info.
IMDB wrote:Runtime
1h 50m(110 min) 2h 16m(136 min) (uncut) (France) 2h 13m(133 min) (International)
The 110 minute "The Professional" is the R-rated American cut, created to appease offended L.A. preview audiences and give Luc Besson his big Hollywood debut after the international success of "(La Femme) Nikita".

The 133 minute "Léon" International version is the one most commonly found on disk after the movie was successful and fans wanted more.
IMDB wrote:An extended cut, retitled 'Leon: version integrale' was released in French cinemas on June 26, 1996. This version is 26 minutes longer than the previously released version and includes, amongst others, one sequence that was removed from the film after the disastrous tests with L.A. preview audiences. This version of the film is available on various DVDs, and is usually called the 'International Cut'. ... [edited]
It has also been called the "Director's Cut", although Luc Besson has been wishy-washy about which version he prefers.
The longer cut has been called many names since its premiere in 1996: international version, extended cut, version intégrale and even director’s cut but Besson has often talked about the theatrical cut as his director’s cut of the film. The theatrical cut is the cut that he delivered and wanted to be seen in 1994. Most Blu-ray releases of Léon includes both the theatrical cut and the extended/international cut.

I have never seen an actual 136-minute uncut version that I know of. I do not know WHAT might have been in the additional 3 minutes given to French audiences in 1996. Maybe Besson decided to trim one last bit before the disk release of the 133 minute-version.

Anway, whether they are named "extended" or "international", both of those links are MOST LIKELY both 133 minutes long, and DEFINITELY NOT only 110 minutes. But if anyone downloads one of those and it is actually 136 minutes, please post!

The scenes added are as follows:
Spoiler:

Mathilda pretends to Leon that she is 18 years old.

Leon having refused Mathilda's request to avenge her parents, she threatens to kill herself at Russian roulette. Leon, after hesitation, ejects the revolver from Mathilda's hands, firing the shot and saving the girl from certain death.

Leon introduces Mathilda to Tony, telling him that he wants to make her his apprentice. Tony, reluctant at first, eventually agrees.

Mathilda begins her training as a killer. She and Leon use the chewing gum blow on the peephole to gain access to their first target, a drug dealer, where they set fire to his merchandise, before shooting him.

Leon and Mathilda celebrate the fulfilment of their first contract in a restaurant. With the help of the champagne, Mathilda bursts into a fit of laughter when she asks Léon to kiss her.

Leon and Mathilda carry out several contracts using the method of chewing gum on the peephole. But they come across an unfooled and reluctant customer (played by Luc Besson) who machine-guns the duo, forcing Léon to take a drastic measure: he throws a grenade into the client's apartment while explaining the blow of the pin (the latter remains attached to Leon's thumb). It should be noted that the blow of the pin will be used again at the end of the film against Stanfield ("from Mathilda", Léon will say as he dies).

As he prepares to carry out a contract on his own, Leon confesses to Mathilda that their meeting has changed his life by bringing him a maturity that he lacked, and that he needs some time for himself.

Sitting on the street in front of her building, Mathilda is approached by four boys who demand to be paid for her to sit on the stairs. Mathilda gives them a hundred dollars and then sends them packing.

Mathilda asks Leon to make love to her; He refuses. Leon then explains to Mathilda why he had to leave his homeland for New York at the age of 19.

Mathilda and Leon sleep together in the same bed.
[Spoilered by Mod for those who have not seen it.]

However, these scenes were never dubbed in French. (France Wiki source)

Wow, SPOILERS! (Well, not for me.)

Everything seems familiar here so I do not know if any of this is solely in the "missing" three minutes (133min vs. 136 min version.)

So the French audience is forced to watch the long version in ENGLISH?!? Oh wait, just those scenes. I checked the French audio on my Blu and those scenes revert to the English audio, and it goes back to French after they are done.

You know.. I'm probably the only FLM member that has never watched this movie not even once...

But it's on netflix so maybe I should finally give this a watch (Probably not until sometime next week though)

Also, why does netflix list this as French.. This isn't a french movie right???

Nevermind, the movie takes place in france i think (I always thought this film was completely made/filmed in the US)
