I
TRULY hate [
HATE] the fact that I am bumping this thread, but I wanted to get my 2 cents in [that's about all this film's worth, imo] as a warning to other members.
Right off the bat, I was excited to see this movie and had no real expectations except that it sounded like a film I would like..

While the poster might give off 'light-hearted comedy-drama' vibes [at least to me it did], with the defiant little trouble-maker Vanesa [
Mia Mustafi (Don't know why I posted her imdb page as this is her only film, to date)] standing [defiantly] in front of her lovely artwork scribbled on the wall. That, along with the tagline; 'We're gonna need new rules', might again make it seem like you're in for some light-hearted fare..
NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!
This movie is an hour and forty-seven minutes of pure torture. Literally: The main queer protagonist is betrayed, cursed at, and a couple times physically abused by the other low life's she is ALLOWING to live in HER house. Virtually the only 'Comedy' in the film are the caustic quips the characters throw at each other.
Even little Vanesa's presence wasn't enough to drag this movie up from the mire. That is mostly because, being a minor character as far as the plot line is concerned, she has very little screen time. Hell; [I'm not even going to 'Spoiler' this:] with no less than 3 lingering scenes, you spend more time watching two guys humping than you do with Vanesa and her antics..
I'm not trying to come across homophobic, but [for me]
IF the movie was able to rise up out of the pit it dug for itself, all the despair and alternate lifestyle travails I had to endure would have made my time watching seem worthwhile. Instead I spent an hour and forty some-odd minutes with people similar to ones I have actually met in RL and avoid like the plague because of exactly the type of fecal matter portrayed in this movie.
And in the end all I've gained from watching is the reminder of why I avoid people like that in the first place... I guess that's one of the main points for me: I couldn't find much of anything I liked, or could relate to, about ANY of the characters..
Anyway, I'm sure there are some members that might find this compelling and thought provoking. (I truly doubt any one will find it 'funny'.) Whatever the case; it just did not work for me. At all.
(That's my 2, maybe 2&1/2 cents..
