Flashget 1.73 build 128 woes
Flashget 1.73 build 128 woes
Ever since upgrading to this version, my downloads from easynews (and only these downloads are affected) choke continually (go to red cross) and have to be restarted by locating the URL and reparsing it through the client. It was bad on 1.71, but never as bad as this. Also with this client, I took the Flashgit registry settings to increase concurrent downlaods and streams (dl = up to 100, streams = up to 30), and I am wondering if this is the cause ? I may revert back to 1.71 and three concurrent downloads if cannot find a fix.
Can anyone advise and/or let me know if they have same problem - if not what are your connection settings ? PM if you feel it necessary.
thanks all

Re: Flashget 1.73 build 128 woes
up to 100? That's way too many IMHO. Unless you have a different server for each new thread, 4 is plenty. Some servers even disconnect you if you start too many segments.
About your problem, it might be related to the tcpip.sys limit in XP SP2. Use the patcher fron http://www.lvllord.de or install XP-Antispy and use the patcher under the special menu. Set the limit to about 200.

Re: Flashget 1.73 build 128 woes
Hi EM and thanks for replying. Have reduced that limit to 50 - makes no difference since it is actually the number of downlaods and number of streams used per download (sources) which seem to cause the problem. Found registry entry I have been looking for (HKCU\Software\Jetcar\Connections), and reduced the number of sources from 30 to 20 - I hope this will fix problem but have to restart program to find out. Re TCP issue, never upgraded from SP1a since SP2 broke firewall !

Run the patch anyway. Some Windows Updates have applied the limit to non SP2 versions. The first step in the patcher will tell you current status; you can exit without changing anything if the patch is not needed. I recheck status every month just in case.
