Re: alt.binaries.movies.thelostmovies
I really don't see why this group should be considered wasted.. It features a lot of nice releases by popdrome and lost and others... From time to time i get to think that i should learn how to post releases to it, but now my time is running out, before i have to move. Because of that i concentrate on releasing stuff to FLM for time being. If any of you feels for it, you're welcome to post my releases to TLM on usenet.

The great thing about how you guys do the NG releases is that you have a couple of JPGs to give you an idea, and then you don't have to have a newsreader (if you do you can just download the nzb files if yours support this), personally I use just normal web browser, and then use the zip function to get the auto-pars - simple, effective and excellent. Really happy how you guys work and some top notch stuff posted there which invariably ends up on EM etc - but that is what it is all about - sharing the wealth !!popdrome wrote:Thanks mongodiscomongodisco wrote:I really don't see why this group should be considered wasted.. It's perfectly alright to be a lurker there, I mean you do not have to post yourself and I, for one, I'm really happy with your ED2K links on this great forum! cheers!
Thanks again dudes

Yes the aliptes jpg's are intended just for that purpose. Of course EN is great because their web tools make life so much easier. autoRAR, zip, download @ blazing speed.. But like I said, just hope to get some more contributors.billanben wrote:The great thing about how you guys do the NG releases is that you have a couple of JPGs to give you an idea, and then you don't have to have a newsreader (if you do you can just download the nzb files if yours support this), personally I use just normal web browser, and then use the zip function to get the auto-pars - simple, effective and excellent. Anyway, I don't see why TLM should conflict with FLM or vice versa. Like you said it's about sharing after all..

I guess, a little advertisement for this kinda, uhm, wasted group does not really harm.
Have not been on here in quite some time and found this old post sort of amusing... currious thou how is it a wasted group?
I do understand this is a P2P but quite a bit gets posted there and some would prob be new to some people here. Plus its signficty faster all thou it does cost me about $15 a month to download.
Far as posting the name thou I could care less and anyone with newsgroup questions is welcome to PM or post here about it or on here or at our site.

Yes, I realize this post is very old, which makes me wonder: How does it hold up against time?infiniter wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:08 pm A standard DVD recorder will record analogue signals from sources like a VHS player/recorder or analogue/digital receiver. Only very few of them feature a digital interface like HDMI and if so, you normally pay much for it. Affordable DVD recorders start at 99 Euros. But, the combination of a good DVD burner (45 Euros) and a grabber (45 Euros), in case you want to rip/burn/convert old VHS tapes to DVD, is much more effective. And faster.
A good DVD recorder also needs a harddrive for buffering, what makes it much more expensive.
And two: Wouldn't it be much more effective to transfer VHS to a PC or laptop directly, and skip the DVD step?
Re: alt.binaries.movies.thelostmovies
Not actually having DONE it, I understand the trick is in converting the VHS analog signal to digital cleanly and a DVD recorder was an easy way to do that. Most computers now do NOT have analog inputs so they would require an external converter. DVD recorders used to be much more common but now they too are vintage technology and not even found in thrift shops anymore. There was a thread here recently discussing the capture of VHS but I'll be darned if I can remember what thread that would be.

Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of! Your point is well-taken about moving it because it is very clear why I would not have remembered it from that movie thread! I'm tired, maybe tomorrow. Bookmarked.
