Another film discovered totally by chance...

Synopsis :
Spoiler:

The Pécourneaus are a close-knit farming family, determined, despite the accumulating debts, to save their farm. A series of unfortunate events plus a new European regulation combine to make their situation untenable. Thank you for this, DaveTheBoss!
Spoiler:

I can sympathize with government over-regulation and I am curious about what exactly it is. Cute kids are also appealing.
I see this has French subtitles and I would like an easy way to translate it to basic English. There are posts here about DeepL, ChatGPT, Whisper, SubtitleEdit, translate.google ... and I am a bit overwhelmed. I have used google and it is a lot of work to do all that copying and pasting. Can anyone recommend which simple and easy translator should be used by a subtitle newbie on an entire subtitle file, to get me started? Thanks in advance!

Hey citronleaf, I found these for ya. So you won't have to worry about AI translating subs. Yet. ;)

Got a few other languages, in case they work better for you than basic English.

Fille de Paysan (2022).HDTVRip.de.srt

Fille de Paysan (2022).HDTVRip.en.srt

Fille de Paysan (2022).HDTVRip.es.srt

Fille de Paysan (2022).HDTVRip.nl.srt

They are likely not timed to DaveTheBoss's webrip link. Let me know if you need help syncing them. I got Romanian language as well, in case you would like that one. I can share it, just let me know.

Wow, thank you very much pillowbaker!! I prefer the easy way and I don't really want to translate anything. Either I did a really bad job looking for other subtitles or you must know a super special secret subtitle stash.

(I am sure there are some Romanians here so you should probably share that one too.)

This seems like a really cool site and thank you for being so friendly!

I think I got the English subtitles properly synced. That I can manage to do.

One of the easiest is.
1. install subtitle edit (freeware, not spyware/commercial ware with a limited license)
2. click the "auto translate" option and see what methods it gives you for converting subtitles from one langugage to another. None of that copy pasting <1000 chars into Google translate anymore!

Thank you David32441! That is great because I already use Subtitle Edit for syncing subtitles, but nothing else. If that is really one of the easiest ways to translate then I am halfway there already.

Screenshots of it have been posted here on at least one time. So am sure Night or someone would be able to find / advise if you run into an issue.
This is just for subtitle conversion. Not audio->subjtitles.

Audio to subtitles can be done with ChatGPT or Whisper is what the posts here and some other places seem to say. I am not sure I am ready to try THAT, yet. Maybe in the future because it sounds great.

Ahh, I wish. No, everyone else here seems to have the secret stash and esoteric connections to movies and media. Not to mention the technical skills. I was just lucky.

Here's what I did.

I searched for the movie itself in my usual places, and found it had been shared, among other places, at rutracker. This is often a good resource for anything. I inspected each result (using google trans in the browser) and found one of them offered subs in several languages. I was lucky enough to have a couple very active seeders and managed to download it. Loaded the file up in subtitleedit, and then had to look up how to extract the subtitles from an mvk file using the software (I could have sworn it was more direct the last time I did it, but perhaps that was when there was only one subtitle to extract). Once I figured it out, I just attached them.

You found subtitles in more than just Russian on a RuTracker file?!!!!?? And for a TV Movie at that???? I am really impressed, pillowbaker! I don't think I would have even thought to check for English subtitles on a Russian movie site. Thank you Dave, citron, & pillow for your combined efforts, and David for the good advice about SubtitleEdit.
