For human translation or Whisper? I have found that Whisper does not recognize speech if you stretch it out.

No I was meaning if you do subs by listening the audio and write/translate what you hear
Sorry for misunderstanding
If Whisper or whatever else does not recognize everything then it may be necessary simply listen with ears what they say and slower audio may help to understand it

"Faster than WHAT?" was my question. I will NEVER try Open AI, then. I really can not afford to upgrade computers over and over again for every new piece of software. (It says "Intel(R) UHD Graphics" which means little to me.) Why would software that listens to audio even need a graphics card in the first place? That's for video! And I am not a gamer so it is not a high priority to have the best of the bestest just to make some **** text subtitles.

Ferdi, that is EXACTLY what I did and have done before. I listened to 2-second snippets of the video at .67 speed in an infinite loop. Some of the time it induced a trance state and I was convinced that I understood its secret messages.

Whipser runs much faster with a GPU processor. It is much much faster than a CPU. But you need an extra graphic card in your computer, like a NVIDIA RTX card. The "Intel(R) UHD Graphics" is integrated in your mainboard and is very slow.

I actually recognize that as a gaming graphics card! I don't think I can ADD a graphics card to a laptop but if Whisper buys me a desktop computer I will try it! Whisper is part of a conspiracy by the gaming industry to sell their hardware because the movie-exclusive nerds were not buying enough of it, just the same as back when I was told that the best 4k BluRay player was a $500 gaming system.

Yeah, I've noticed that "integrated graphics" Intel UHD Graphics are pretty common in laptops and low-end, non-gaming desktops. I have found myself surprised to find out just how much is tied in to graphics cards. From what I understand, too, is if you even found a way to upgrade your graphics card, you would have to ensure its power draw would be supported by your power supply (PSU). Changing one of those for one of those for a computer not designed to be upgraded can be rather frustrating as well.

Do try Purfview's Faster Whisper, if you're down for giving it another try (I might suggest a different short). If just the thought annoys you, you can always giggle at the B&B Star Trek joke waiting here: "Number One, I order you to take a number two!"

The screenshots clearly show the limited resolution of the black & white videotape. I cropped off the worst of the tracking issues at the top and bottom, but some still remains because I did not want to crop too much.
