Movies with 0 progress, will they ever work?
Movies with 0 progress, will they ever work?
I am new to the eMule scene and these movies. And I noticed that some movies just instantly start downloading while others do nothing.
Does that mean the downloads are pretty much dead now? Or if I leave it on long enough someone might come online that has it and the download starts?
Got 4 movies with 0 progress now and had my PC on entire day.
Does this mean I should look elsewhere to find it? like torrent or something? Im new but I really think we should add a mega or other cloud storage link as a mirror to the files so these often super rare movies dont just disappear. Im happy to be the one that makes the mirrors as well as I like to feel usefull.

Re: Movies with 0 progress, will they ever work?
If an older file is no longer shared in eMule you can post in that movie thread asking people to reshare it. You can also do so anonymously by putting a check mark next to the ed2k link and clicking "Request selected files". Of course that option depends on people reviewing the "Requested files" page to see that people want them! I myself review the page regularly, but I do not drag out my old hard drives every single day. So yes, patience is part of it.
Click on the "sources info" button next to an ed2k link to go to the shortypower page. It will show if the file has been shared recently.
Members are permitted to post direct download links if they wish. However, it should be understood that these third party links are NOT any more reliable than eMule. They are just another means of sharing. As long as eMuling FLM members HAVE a file, it can be reshared in eMule. At this moment in time, MEGA seems to be the most long-lasting of third party sites. There were other sites that USED to be just as reliable, but they have disappeared. The same could also happen to MEGA. (That does not stop me from uploading some files there.)
Also, it is a good idea to try to get the most up-to-date version of a movie. If you are aiming at a standard definition AVI posted in 2008 and the movie has been upgraded 3 times in the years since, the old file is probably NOT still shared. Start at the end of the thread and work your way back. If there is a 1080p file, that one is more likely to be shared. If you want to view just the posts with ed2k links, click on "Show posts with ed2k links" at the top of the thread.
When I am looking to download an old FLM movie and the ed2k link is not currently shared, the first thing that *I* do is look for alternate sources instead of requesting a reshare. Sometimes I find a file on torrent or streaming that is an UPGRADE to what is already here, and then I share it. Sometimes I find on torrent some files that were originally rips created by long-gone FLM members for sharing on eMule! Whether someone else goes this route depends on how much time they want to spend looking.

What could I add?
eMule is p2p. You can only download a file (directly from another user), if the file is shared and the sharing user must be online (then the bar is blue, not red). If the download doesn't start immediately, you are in queue. So sometimes you have to be patient. It happend that I waited several months until I was able to get a movie complete.
