[REL] Só no Sertão (2024) [Brazil]
Re: [REL] Só no Sertão (2024) [Brazil]
I think it is because of the tech involved. The closed captions are not separate but embedded in a line of the video itself as text that is not normally visible. Ffmpeg is amazing and can do most anything with video, it is just a matter of using the right commands.

Yes, maybe. But even MPC or MKVToolnix can't find the captions in the file. So in the future I'll use VLC more offten (I don't like this player).Could be mediaInfo / bug related. Ffmpeg is more powerful/advanced I would guess.

I was surprised that MPC did not recognize them! If you don't particularly like VLC as a PLAYER you can just have it on hand to quickly verify whether or not something has CCs if you do not have other subtitles available. I myself prefer VLC and keep MPC on hand for when I need it. No exclusivity.

I still have some software called "Project X Portable" that could extract closed caption / subtitles from some form of TV mpeg stream files - maybe only mpeg2's. But not sure if it's the same type of subtitle encoding in the video as you're talking about . Sadly when I drop in the mkv it says "file type not supported". Maybe one of you have heard of it. I have a very old version though.

You had recommended that as a possibility a few years ago when I was first having problems with EIA-608:

I think that I DID download and try it, but I do not remember whether or not it worked with the video I was fighting. Ghost vaguely recalled having used it in the olden days!
