I really appreciate the thoughtful discussion I am finding here! I especially like that it is done without accusations and personal attacks like I sometimes find at certain other social media sites. Rich_Visiting, I will have to read your post a few more times to absorb it all.

I could not help but have a waggish response to one part of marvingray's post.

But but but ... that is WHY I got into heavy metal in the first place!!!! :evil

Just kidding.

I was going through old music I had favorited on youtube and I found an appropriate dance example: https://youtu.be/h_tjACn_Vb4?si=Msm_7NB4PERDhnZk these were the backup dancers for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu around 2012ish I believe, and the small blue one I'm pretty sure is a dancer named P-chan and is a boy. I have no idea if any the others are boys or not. Honestly, IMO, her dancers were one of the best part of her old live performances, especially the song minna no uta https://youtu.be/fvoM3guBY-k?si=Km8sRHd2gq-kKo52

But I do think some modern dance routines shouldn’t be performed under a certain age or let’s just say I wouldn’t let my own children do it. A 10yo doesn’t need to shake their ass on Stage And be in Outfits adult women would usually wear.

It’s a fine line, some would probably even say wearing tight ballet outfits is provocative (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQSYJ4_Fp0M) But I do think some of the „modern“ dances really are just copying from (already sexualized) adult-themed choreographies.
I have a vast memory when I went nudism in Odessa by the Black Sea, I long for one day the situation to improve and I return to that place, I also went to the Czech Republic in one of those camps, a girl did a gymnastics show with the ball and everyone They applauded and I thought if this were a small planet where a competition like that would be normal, without complaints.

Could you ask a coach from a prestigious academy, why that outfit? and for what he answers you; 'It's appropriate, you won't see a gymnast or swimmer wearing jeans', pole dancing is practiced with little clothing because it's difficult to do maneuvers, a participant in a state competition complained because she didn't qualify because the judges forced her to wear shorts. because her leotard seemed inappropriate.

Oh that's cool, never heard of this "Prank Pudding", interesting name, though. lol :D

I've always enjoyed this one: 3nin Matsuri - Chu! Natsu Party (チュッ!夏パ~ティ) (2001) [4K AI Upscale])

The three performers are Ai Kago, Rika Ishikawa, and Aya Matsuri. I am pulling that from memory so I hope that is right, lol.

I remember they went to perform on a show called Utaban, and the host was trying to look up their skirts the entire time. Japan is a different kind of place, I guess!

e. My bad her name is Aya Matsura

It is a country that one wonders many things, the girls represented in the anime or cosplay of Sailor Moon, I found striking the princess of the moon would be around 13y with an outfit with a very short skirt, some OT that are not seen in the western version, some foreigner asked about CP immediately responded that it is not tolerated at all and is punished harshly, Japan is not what many believe.

I have seen this thread and I definitely say this:
For me it is and always will be ART no matter how she dances or how she dresses because it is and always will be artistic expression. And to the critics and I say; GO TO THE DEMON .... :eusa_silenced :eusa_silenced :eusa_silenced

Chloë Grace Moretz was super cute as a preteen it's pretty hard to deny. Thanks for sharing, Notenown.

Whoever wrote that article is out of line.
I don't think the cheerleaders wore normal pants, all the outfits wear their appropriate garment, it was not shorts but a very tight garment like the one she wears in this video https://videa.hu/videok/emberek-vlogok/ ... AxO5vNafIA makes her look appropriate to wear a skirt.

A while ago I saw a movie with a dream cheerleader scene.
Spoiler:

I would have liked Chloë Grace Moretz, Abby Breslin or whoever FLM supported at the time to do that OT.

Well as the discussion has dried up a bit, if anyone has either cool, appropriate, inappropriate, or any other type of dance to share, as the person who did not create the thread, I would personally not object.

Here's one: S/mileage - Asu wa Date na no ni, Imasugu Koe ga Kikitai (あすはデートなのに、今すぐ声が聞きたい) (2009)[4K AI Upscale])

Just because every member is INSANELY cute, the dance is cute, and the lolita outfits are  :o (imo)

Actually, this thread sort of resparked my interest in Japan idol culture. I was HUGE into Hello! Project in the 2006-2009 era. They were, at one time, the biggest idol agency in Japan with the highest selling all girl group (morning musume), however I believe AKB surpassed them at some point. What has been a bit of a bummer upon revisiting is it seems like they don't create groups for teens/preteens anymore. Now it seems like the vast majority of the current members are in their early to mid twenties, so I don't know if that is a change in trends(Kpop?), laws, company ethics or what..? Have to say I disapprove, though.

edit: here's a good performance of that same group, very high energy: https://youtu.be/vQD4UR5SgO4?si=3iuZOq9vr_EgyfH7

You also get a glimpse of Wota-culture in action(otaku for idol groups) 30-40+ yo men chanting the girls' names, waving their glowsticks about, who probably have bedroom wallpapered with their favorite idol's photos.(yes I probably would have went if i had the chance back then  )
