People really are still using eMule even when they have other options! They have their reasons and I will not question them. The MEGA links cut down on the number of people eMuling -- but it also gets people who do not eMule at all. I consider it a win for sharing.

mostly have given up the illusion of control in my life. I was using "archive" ironically. So far anyway, MEGA seems to leave files available "forever" - until they change their policies like ulozto did. But just like every other online sharer in the world, when I am dead my hard drive contents will be totally inaccessible to the public and the only "archives" will be on other people's hard drives. Whether they reshare by eMule, Usenet, Torrent, direct-download, or brain-direct-WiFi is up to them.
