WOW!

After all these years and all the rare movies we've unearthed and/or stumbled across; THIS movie has been staring us in the face for almost 90 years.. Thank you Night for officially bringing this movie to FLM.

I've noticed a spate of Shirley Temple movies cropping up lately..

What shocks me the most is her early movies should be a staple here at FLM.. She was the essence of cuteness, brattyness, overacting, charming, and yes; at times being innocently seductive: What childhood is all about..

RIP, Sweet little Shirley! Long live Curly Top!

You were around in the olden days at FLM so correct me if I am wrong, but my impression is that way back then the widely available mainstream movies were ignored in favor of more edgy material, right? Of course people learn that what is mainstream in one country is unusual and different in another. And some people (like me, I admit) get old and toothless enough that a diet of exclusively "spicy" movies gets to be less appealing. Shirley was considered by some to be a provocative sexpot in her time and for a long period after, and sent some critics into spasms of disgust and rage because of it. But just compare her to how young girls are presented on YouTube, TV and movies today and get a cold shock of cultural perspective. However "bad" it was in the olden days, things only get worse.

But you are right, it surprised me that there was not a previous thread for this movie I could find, although there are a few mentions of the movie in other threads. A number of the superior Shirley movies Released by thequietgirl in 1080p were making their first appearances here! There are still many of her movies that do not seem to have appeared even on web streaming in 1080p yet. I plan on raiding my DVDs for a few more of the "still SD" ones but I do not plan to do ALL of them because it is just too many. Maybe by Murphy's Law this will force more of them to suddenly magically appear online in HD.
