Jdownloader2 slooooooooooow...
Re: Jdownloader2 slooooooooooow...
It has reached the point where an updated JD2 with the VPN shut off DLs even YouTube videos at mere double-digit kbps so that they promise to finish in DAYS. It is now utterly useless in all circumstances and I am better off using either yt-dlp or my browser. Next step, virus check -- Or uninstall JD2 and reinstall fresh -- Or maybe just stop using it. Damn.
EDIT, LATER: Restarted computer. Virus check OK. Uninstalled JD2 completely, then reinstalled fresh. With the VPN off, JD2 downloads in reasonably fast MBps projected to take several minutes... but not as fast as yt-dlp. Hmmm. Well, it is better than taking DAYS. Maybe it is still usable. When I have MEGA & fichier links I want I will try it again.

Think there's a Jdownloader 2 button where you accidentally click it and it defaults to 10kb/s. Press again and it goes full throttle. But that would be all downloads.

That's the pause button. There's also a way to setup custom download limits.David32441 wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:45 pm Think there's a Jdownloader 2 button where you accidentally click it and it defaults to 10kb/s. Press again and it goes full throttle. But that would be all downloads.

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHH!!!!!
<-- me
I must have hit that button then. Thank you so much David & Dream! Now I know how to fix it when I accidentally click it again, WITHOUT a reinstall! I was aware of the custom limits option but I don't use them, and could not do so by accident. I have struggled with the uselessness of JD2 for some weeks now and it has driven me batty!

Oh man. Oh man. Thank you Night, thank you DreamScape and David, that was good for a laugh. I needed that.
Also, now I know to look out for that. Glad it wasn't the VPN + jd2 combo that we were afraid of.
Now, we are left to ponder that presence of that pause button. Not quite a pause, as it leaves 10kb/s, and the stop button is there is you really needed it. Yeah, unlike our emule and torrent clients, it stops all downloads. It's either full force or all stop. So surely, the pause button is there for such an occasion as this.
Good times, everyone!

Not all hosts support download resume. The pause button nearly stops the download without dropping the connection and forcing you to start over from the beginning.pillowbaker wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:57 am Now, we are left to ponder that presence of that pause button. It's like unknowingly hitting "Seat Eject" in Bond's car to have a walk on the Autobahn.

Pardon the hijacking of this thread. Seems better to use it than create a new thread for this question.
Ans anyone had any recent issues downloading from youtube using jd2? It simply won't work for me. I'm looking into it now. According to this reddit thread, it isn't limited to just me. Same issue as mentioned in latest posts in the thread, "temporarily unavailable."

Re: Jdownloader2 slooooooooooow...
It seems a perfectly reasonable hijack, still on the topic of Jdownloader2.
I just tried JD2 for YT now and saw the same problems you and others have. Downloading YT still works in yt-dlp, thank goodness. Just as soon as I got fichier links working fast in JD2, it fails at YT! Anyway, like the Reddit thread says we should just wait a short while until they update the YouTube plugins for JD2 and then it will work again. Thanks for the warning!
