Unsupervised Mischief

Post by Alex_kaplan »   0 likes

MOD EDIT: Off-topic discussion continued from here: viewtopic.php?p=117365#p117365

It seems to be of normal quality movie, but to download one file in slow downloading almost 5 hours is needed (
From the photo, it looks like compressed quality, not full screen
I wanted to ask if there is a way to expand the scale of the video without loss of quality, so that there was a picture on the whole screen - this applies to the video DVD5-9

By the way, thanks a lot for the program MakeMKV - converting DVD5 - 9 to MKV
But haven't found if it has a way to change the scale when converting

True after several conversions, required registration and payment, but I found a cracked version of the program, works fine

5 hours ain't NUTHIN! When I have a direct-download that take 12 hours, then I am annoyed.

If I absolutely have to get tezfiles, I use Jdownloader2 so that I can resume the files later if the connection breaks. Equivalent downloaders can also be used.

If you watch the video on your computer and use VLC, go to Video > Crop > and select 16:9. Then click the fullscreen button. Different videos might take a different crop.

If you use MPC, it is more complicated because the Menus have so many options. It seems to be:
View > Video Frame > Touch Window From Outside
+
View > Video Frame > Override Aspect Ratio > 16:9
+
View > Full Screen

If you watch the video through a BluRay or DVD player, it probably has a Zoom function.

NEXT POST:

AAAAACKKK!!! Don't use cracked software if you can avoid it! Possible malware!!! Instead, go here:

Use the beta key to "Register" and MakeMKV will continue to be "free while in beta". I have done that several times (once a month) rather than re-install.

MakeMKV will not change the scale because it does not convert or recode the video, it just recontainers it in an MKV. If I need to recode for whatever reason, I use a free encoder like XMedia Recode or Handbrake or Avidemux, depending on what I want to do. Figuring out the correct settings to use for them can be tricky. (I do NOT recommend Avidemux for changing the scale.)

I don't have the patience - 3 files is almost 15 hours of download time (((

I use VLS media player to watch movies, but not all videos can be expanded, still these black frame on all sides of the screen.

Cracked program MakeMKV I use for three months, no problems, before installing I read reviews of people were positive )

Thank you very much for the detailed answer, I will take your advice

Do you have to watch your computer while it works? Using a downloader, it does not take effort and I don't worry about the time spent downloading. I can do other things on the computer while it works (slowly, on tez), go away for awhile and eat, take a walk, watch TV, sleep for the night, wake up and see what is downloaded. Mind you: full confession:: my computer is on and online ~23 hours a day uploading and downloading -- always on eMule, often on torrents too. I can understand why many people would not want or be able to do that. Ultimately, it also depends on the rarity of a movie and how much I want it.

Some videos have the black bars encoded as part of the video, so you are right that it does not work completely on all of them. (Although "Crop" does quite a bit, and if used right it should only leave bars on at most 2 sides.) I verified that it worked with THIS video. I think there was only a sliver of black bars remaining with the settings that I used. I always maintain the aspect ratio and do not stretch or crop an image simply for the sake of using every screen pixel. My theory is that I want to view the image, not my computer monitor; and that I don't want to lose any of that image or have it distorted. Whatever surrounding blackness is necessary to maintain the image proportions is fine by me. I just don't care for tunnel vision with large borders on all 4 sides!

I agree, you can leave the download overnight, wake up and everything will be downloaded
While working, if you download a file, the internet speed drops

And if I go somewhere, I do not leave the computer or TV on, in case of a voltage drop or the wiring will short circuit, or the cat will accidentally jump, so it is better to turn off all appliances when you go away

Yes of course it all depends on the rarity of the movie, this movie I watched and I have it maybe not in good quality, but it is there

Many movies even in Full HD BluRay quality very large stripes at the bottom and top, on the sides no, but still I stretch in VLS player, watch is not very with such stripes

You need a pet cage! Put the computer in the cage and it is safe from pets. (Of course, that is much easier with a laptop than with a desktop computer.)

Tezfiles are so trickling slow that they do not really interfere with doing other work. Fast downloads are the ones that can interfere, but they are over with quickly.

I very rarely leave appliances running if no one is home... except for refrigerator-freezer, electric clocks, or a furnace cycling on and off in the winter.

I don't unplug the refrigerator when I leave either, and probably no one unplugs it when they leave.) :D
I have a cat who likes to poke his nose where it doesn't belong and do mischief, so I've been locking him in his room when I go out lately ;)

I have heard second-hand from an older person whose long-passed father would unplug EVERY appliance when they left the house for several hours, refrigerator included, for fear that unsupervised electricity could wreak serious harm. I realize that in "olden times" the electric grid was perhaps less reliable, but this amusing story was told with the knowledge that at the very least this could be considered (ahem) "eccentric" behavior.

Yes, unsupervised cats ... and dogs ... and children WILL do mischief! That is probably why I see so many of them taken with the adults to grocery stores. (You can figure out on your own whether I mean the pets or the children, or both. ;) )

Sometimes in a hurry, when you are late, - then on the way you think whether you have turned off everything, it is better to double-check, many fires just happen because of this. - old wiring, flat iron , etc.

I also have frequent power fluctuations in my house, and sometimes you can tell by the light is blinking ;)
