Sorry pillowbaker, only Admins & Mods can Edit other people's posts and get the text of the ed2k link. If you temporarily QUOTE the post, you can get the exact name of the file and then Emule Search for it as a workaround. I was not quite clear what you were doing with the shortypower because I still have yet to see what things look like WITH this problem in Chrome. I am almost excited about Updating Chrome and SEEING this problem so that *I* can fight with it too.pillowbaker wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 8:29 amBut I was not as smart as ghost and didn't think of using edit page to acquire the link
ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule

Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome
Updated Chrome and then encountered the problem.
I want to verify things that DO NOT WORK TO FIX THIS ISSUE:
- Disable Browser Extensions
- Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
- Uninstall and Reinstall Google Chrome (RADICAL LAST CHOICE!!!) I made sure to Export my Bookmarks first.

Yes, a new install was indeed a waste of time.
Surely only a small change to the code of the forum is required to get it working again.
And it affects all browsers that are based on the chromium engine.
Let's wait for mimzy. That's all we can do at the moment.

Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome
You overestimate me
I'm afraid I'm helpless here, because (I assume) it's not a problem with the website but Chrome blocking the links for "security reasons". If that's the case, then there must be lots of people having the same problem and searching for something like "about blank blocked" seems to provide some solutions. No?
If nothing else works, you'll probably find the links when you look at page source (HTML), but this is obviously inconvenient.
Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome
The problem is fixed and clicking ed2k-links should work again with every browser.
If you should still notice any problem, please post it in this thread.

Also im surprised so many flm users are using chrome and not Firefox which can be more privacy respecting
Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome
Short, not-too-technical version as I understand it
: chromium-based-browsers had changed how certain non-alphabetic, non-numeric characters were handled with their last update. Ghost knew of another site where ed2k links were NOT broken in Chrome, so he looked at their coding to see what was different. Mimzy had to change how | in ed2k links was rendered on our site. EVERY ed2k link uses the | character. (Bring up links in your eMule client.) Later, he fixed the coding for characters [ ] & which can be used in file names.
I used to use Firefox all the time, but Chrome had the only webpage translate when I switched. That aspect is still superior. I have heard about the privacy protections of Brave.

I would consider switching again. Google is waging a war against ad blockers, which is going to be bad for us.

Do tell, do tell! I can not survive without those. Supposedly uBlock Origin will soon no longer be supported in Chrome, but extensions lose support all the time until they recode. I have used and can use a different adblocker and have not seen any problems YET...

Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome
The problem is Manifest V3 which implements serious limitations in what browser plugins can do. Specifically, they are removing the ability for ad blockers to dynamically update their block list. Under Manifest V3, the block list can only be updated through Google's web store which will be much slower. That's a problem because new ads pop up constantly.Night457 wrote: Tue Oct 22, 2024 7:05 am Do tell, do tell! I can not survive without those.
