Hard to say if I'd end up liking it, but if they kept the girls the same age I'd probably still watch it /shrugSully23 wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2024 4:38 pm I think it could be made in the U.S.A. since it would be more of a childish tone than the dark tone of Lucile Hadžihalilović, the problem is there are no directors or studios that would finance such a project, if it were to happen is perhaps the pond scene, the inmates would wear bikinis that would look like a trip to summer camp.
Sully has it about right, I think. If they were going to do a version of this for the current US market they'd keep the girls the same age - because it's important to the plot - but avoid showing too much of them. In the swimming scenes they'd all be wearing swimsuits. The girl in the coffin would've been wearing a nightgown or something.
I doubt it would be as good storywise either. Nine times out of ten when American filmmakers try to remake a European movie they just don't do as good a job. Largely because they're more worried about offending viewers with topics that are too controversial or edgy. They sugar coat those aspects and the plot becomes more ... bland. You know what I mean.
