Server switch

Post by mimzy »   4 likes

We are planning to change FLM server on December 1. Outage will be kept as short as possible, but downtime of some minutes is needed to transfer the database. Everything will be the same and ideally you won't notice anything. We cannot rule out some technical glitches, though.

We are just using a different server, by my understanding.

The new server (virtual machine) will have faster CPU and more RAM, but probably this won't be directly noticeable, except when we have too many bots visiting the site or otherwise high load.

What prompted the switch?

Simply an opportunity to get a better server and upgrade OS without a long downtime. No change of provider or anything.

If everything went as expected, I probably should not have even mentioned it. Anyway, except a small problem with missing images initially, it seems everything went smoothly.

There were a few minutes when the site was inaccessible, which I assumed was during the switch. I did not have to wait long to get back on. Thank you mimzy!
