WOW!!

Didn't even know about this until I searched out info on 'Boy Kills World'. The actress in THAT movie [ Quinn Copeland ] is a part of THIS 10 episode series.

Obviously not a big hit, STILL I'd love to be able to see it. It was produced by and premiered on Peacock.

Wikipedia says:

Punky Brewster is an American television sitcom that premiered on Peacock on February 25, 2021.[1] It is a revival to the show of the same title, and stars Soleil Moon Frye and Cherie Johnson, with Quinn Copeland, Noah Cottrell, Oliver De Los Santos, Lauren Lindsey Donzis and Freddie Prinze Jr.[2] In August 2021, the series was canceled after one season.

Not having even seen the trailer at this point; from images alone I want to see this series no matter how suck-y it might have been! If nothing else; to see more of Quinn Copeland. I loved her in 'Boy Kills World'; I'm sure she kills it as a mini-Punky in this series!

Yeppers; Soleil Moon Frye done be growed up. Don't no mo' look likes dat cute li'l Punky Brewster of the '80's. Sorta has dat 'Rode-Hard-And-Put-Up-Wet' look about her... (And I's mean rode REAL hard! Sorta like that once cute li'l Pretty Baby Brooky girl..)

At this point, i HAVE watched the trailer and while the humor is pretty abysmal at times [much like the original series], it would appear that none of the children in Punky's care are actually hers. Maternal or GRANDmaternal.

Quinn Copeland's character's name is Izzy and she seems to be either a runaway or a child that needs Punky's assistance. I thought I had posted this pix in my OP:

It shows a sorta similarity between Soleil as the original Punkster and Quinn playing dress up.

That is typical of any number of successful 1980s family sitcoms, so I can't particularly fault "Punky" for it. (ALF, anyone?) The appeal of the original was pretty much the charm of Soleil rather than the scripts. Quinn has some big boots to fill (so to speak) but then the charm of young actresses is one of the interests of FLM, right?

Thank you kev, I binge watched all 10 episodes today and enjoyed it, finding the series both funny and sentimental. Good that I knew going in that it was canceled because it is annoyingly typical that I find that series I like are short-lived and ones I despise are successful and last forever.

Those sensitive or outright allergic to social & gender politics might want to steer clear. Fair warning, as it was on-the-nose at times rather than just wearing their heart-on-the-sleeve and veered perilously close to preaching. I note this simply as a matter for the viewer to decide whether it would still entertain them. I liked it because the kids were so damn charming: Punky's 15-year-old daughter, two adopted sons aged roughly 13 and 11, and her 7-year-old foster daughter. (All character ages, not actual ages.) Freddie Prinze Jr. was also adorable as Punky's rock musician ex-husband. Whyever did Punky divorce him? She must be nuts.
