Ah, I remember Leelee fondly. First saw her in Deep Impact. She made a few provocative films like Eyes Wide Shut, The Glass House and L'Idole - where she actually had a nude scene, although she was 17 at the time so it's not FLM material.

Do we know that for a fact? Either that Leelee was a virgin, or that every other actress to play the famous figure wasn't?

I don't argue with girls who say so, although the Catholic Church DID in Joan's time and insisted on tests for "proof". Leelee was 15 in Joan of Arc (TV Miniseries 1999) while Maria Falconetti and Ingrid Bergman were in their 30s and married with children when they played Joan. Sandrine Bonnaire was 26 and not married, but take your own guess. It was typical for ridiculously older actresses to play Jeanne d'Arc, burned at the stake at 19. Leelee was the youngest actress yet to play Joan (we have had younger since) and finally an actress who was actually age appropriate. It was her own comment in an interview I was referencing, which I only remember because I found it very funny at the time that she was focusing not so much on her limited age but her... limited experience. We can be pretty sure that none of the actresses who played Jeanne d'Arc had any experience in medieval combat or necessarily had heavenly visions either but instead had to ACT the part.
