The viewing numbers are not very good.Quickone wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 6:43 pmit's been confirmed Disney won't do a season 2. They are floating it to other studios though. Unlikely though.marvingray wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 7:44 pm No spoilers here but I do talk vaguely about the plot:
I enjoyed this show for what it was-- a fairly lighthearted kid friendly star wars adventure. I thought jude law's character arc didn't quite work but I could see what they were going for and it seems like they might not get more seasons but if they had they could've maybe did more with the character.
I enjoyed the pirate theme. I guess thats where the "goonies in space" thing came from, but movies back then had more of an edge to them and the show really had no bite beyond a few threats of pretty harsh violence. I think the appeal of something like the goonies is when the kids are crass or perverted or rude in some way kids see that and think "that's how me and my friends play and joke around but they're doing it on an actual adventure." Its like writers are terrified to put anything challenging at all in a show aimed at kids. But that could just be a problem for this show as I'm not an expert on modern day things kids watch.
All that being said, it was still fun. Had a few fun characters and set pieces. I liked the Droid. I like that it mostly stayed away from direct jedi stuff and did its own things. Jude law does put in a great performance and while I didn't love the characters arc, for most of the journey he was great.
Id maybe say 7/10 but pretty close to a 6 for me. Id watch a season 2 if it came out.

Have not seen any official confirmation of no second season, do you have a link? I tried googling and didn't see anything.
Either way, it tells a complete story, but it was clear they left enough setup for possible further seasons. It's a shame, not even decent Star Wars media can get off the ground these days.
I hear Andor was greenlit a second season even before airing, at least, which has probably been my favorite post-Disney purchase Star Wars show/movie, but my understanding is it also didn't have the viewership they'd hoped for.

Andor is aimed at adults, but adults without kids don't generally have a Disney+ subscription. Not good marketing. They should license it out to another streamer, like Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu.

I mean Disney+ still comes with a huge back catalog of shows and films. (I don’t use any streaming services anyways)deadman wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 6:26 ammarvingray wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 2:08 am Have not seen any official confirmation of no second season, do you have a link?
