I certainly do not intend to be unfriendly.

Why would that thought occur to you in the first place? Have you ever been told that before?
Think from the perspective of others...
I was gently suggesting that you should think from the perspective of the tiny number of people you are asking to devote more hours of their time to curating dead links, when they ALREADY devote hours of their time to this site! For free, for movies. NOT for pictures. They do it because they want to, but they may already be doing more than they really really want to.

I agree with you that a long string of dead Postimage icons is ugly. I question the value of the WORK involved in cleaning it up. It is very easy to drive down the highway and complain about the litter that lines the side of the road, and I do that too. (The complaining, not the littering.) It is very very time consuming and tedious to clean it up, so one should not be surprised if it does not happen.

AGAIN: I do not mean to be unfriendly, but I do not hesitate to give anyone a hard dose of realism either.

Because it is so common, people complain that people waste their time and keep making "free" requests.
Many people do, but if I get classified into these majority and have been “reminded” or “warned”, I’ll be very frustrated because I’m serious about spending my time making any suggestions or contributions.

I'm not sure what you want to express. If it reduces the troubles of everyone when reading later and saves time for you and me, then everything is worth and positive. I'm not asking for anything, and it doesn't matter if people are reluctant to do it, or even read my advice. But please don't think I'm doing something worthless.
It is very very time consuming and tedious to clean it up, so one should not be surprised if it does not happen.
At this point, it is much harder to notice problems and come up with feasible solutions than to actually solve them.
Things that batch process known formats through automated scripts are definitely not as complicated as you might think.
If I have permissions and have a complete list of hosts and schemes, I'm even willing to do this.

There is no difference in nature. When you instill the reality of sin into a child, her world is filled with despair.

That is a good point. I gave up coding entirely over 30 years ago and refuse to touch it, so surely coding capabilities have improved in the meantime.

Please understand that if I thought your suggestions were worthless then I would not even respond in the first place! I do tend to focus on what problems there might be with an implementation... you might even say that I despair of effective results. I have certainly been justly accused of being pessimistic. I just happen to be the first person responding to your posts. Do not think that anything I say is the last word on the subject. Your suggestions DO have value.

Perhaps you haven't noticed that the internet is full of pointless wars of words, and entitlement and superiority complexes. There will always be only a handful of people who are actually wise enough to stop responding.

I really hate the experience of responding quickly and thinking "you" came up with something worthless and question your efforts, yes I've experienced a lot! This is also why I hated identity-based communication. People like to ignore the advice of nobodies and treat the bullshit of people of status as gold.

I have to admit I did not try to understand all this philosophical discussion.

I have this weekend fully booked for non-FLM stuff, but cleaning up image links and improving ed2k links in Chrome are at the top of my TODO list. I just have to update the list of missing images and detecting missing image is not always trivial if the site substitutes it by another image. It is easy with postimage, though, because every postimage that does not have a backup can be considered missing.

Once the list is updated, the substitution happens automatically, there is no need to edit posts. And if the images should ever resurface, they can be easily restored.

@-notifications and sorting by creation date have currently lower priority. I'd probably have to dig into PHP code to implement these or find a good plugin/extension.

Yes, it's so much better! :thumbsup :icon_thumbsup :icon_thumbup1

Maybe it would be more better to fold them into one row.
But it's good enough. If it's a hassle don't worry about it.

And thank you for your quick resolve, but nothing is in hurry, please enjoy your great weekend.

Yes, there are some images for which a backup exists, but is not used yet. I will check for those. This one is fixed now.
