ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule
Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule
Ghost, is your chromium browser still "Brave"?
OTHER FLM MEMBERS: Please test Opera, Safari, or whatever other browsers you use. Thank you.
Here is a sample post with multiple ed2k links (54!!!) good for testing:

Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule
Can you please try to clear browsers cache? I think you have old javascript code in cache.Night457 wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 11:28 pm Using Chrome and the "Copy selected links" button, FLM claims that the link(s) have been copied to the clipboard. However, there is nothing in the clipboard. It can not be Pasted into either eMule or Notepad. There are no error messages, there is simply nothing that results.
"Add all N links to your emule client" in Chrome does NOT add the links to eMule, but it jumps to the top of the FLM page.
What about "Add all N links to your emule client"?ghost wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 11:51 pm Everything works perfectly in my chromium browser (clicking the link and copy to clipboard).

Aha! It is working much better now, thank you.mimzy wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 11:59 pm Can you please try to clear browsers cache? I think you have old javascript code in cache.
I Deleted Browsing Data for all time for both Chrome and Edge, closed them and then used CCleaner as well. (Of course this involves more than just clearing the cache, but a complete clearing out is how I always do it anyway.) I waited until I was done with browser uploads/downloads before I did this!
Chrome now successfully uses the "Copy selected links" button and allows me to Paste the results in eMule. It copies and pastes ALL the links in one try.
For both Chrome and Edge, I can Select multiple links (I used a sample post with 54 links!) and then "Add all N links to your emule client". It will only add links one-at-a-time. I have to keep clicking the button until they all have been added.
This seems to work well for the browsers tested so far, AFTER clearing the cache. Good job!

Thanks for testing!
The cache issue was a mistake on my part. I should have increased phpBB's assets version, which automatically invalidates the assets in browser's cache. This is now done, so clearing the browser's cache should be no longer necessary.

Do you mean clicking the "Add all N links to your emule client" button N times? That does not sound intuitiveNight457 wrote: Sun Mar 02, 2025 12:56 am For both Chrome and Edge, I can Select multiple links (I used a sample post with 54 links!) and then "Add all N links to your emule client". Re: ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule
I remember the main problem here is the user gesture context, and the validity time.mimzy wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 10:32 pm Adding the first link works, but for the rest I get an error "Not allowed to launch 'ed2k://...' because a user gesture is required." So it seems for each link it is necessary to add a confirmation popup like "Do you want to add ed2k://..."
[Code] A quick search for code, it seems that the current implementation may exceed two limitations at the same time.
The user gesture context requires synchronous execution.
The validity time limit is usually only a few seconds at most.
I haven't investigated the specific implementation of chrome, so maybe it doesn't matter.
I don't think popping up the confirm window multiple times is a good user experience.

Also working without any problem. What about "Add all N links to your emule client"?
I've tested it with Brave Browser, which is based on the Chromium engine.

Yes. One click gave one link, so I wondered what would happen if I clicked it again.mimzy wrote: Sun Mar 02, 2025 1:21 am Do you mean clicking the "Add all N links to your emule client" button N times?
Keep pushing a button over and over again until it works seems to be PERFECTLY intuitive to knuckleheads like me.That does not sound intuitive
Not ideal of course, but the other two ed2k options worked properly so I did not absolutely HAVE to do that.
