During a hike in the mountains, a group of scout girls treat themselves to lunch. Someone, however, takes one of their hard-boiled eggs. It turns out that the culprit is the devil Pipe, who eventually successes in scaring away not only the girls and their teacher, but also several tourists. The hairy Pipe also steals a birthday cake baked by a father for his ten-year-old son called Bi, who moves on a wheelchair. Everyone thinks that this is a weasel's doing. But on the morning TV news, they announce that there have been sightings of a mysterious creature.

English subtitle by endurro and me
Bliskie.spotkania.z.wesolym.diablem.1989.1080p.WEB-DL.AAC2.0.H.264-WELP.en.srt

endurro and I completed our English subtitles for Bliskie spotkania z wesolym diablem. I hope everyone enjoys the film!

Several times during the movie, Mak says Ale karbid! which translates to What a carbide! in English. This is nonsense as Mak is clearly not referring to the chemical compound carbide. endurro was not familiar with this phrase. ChatGPT did offer an explanation, but I couldn't be sure if it was just a hallucination. I eventually decided to keep the literal translation. It's obviously used as a catch phrase and perhaps it's simply intended to be silly.

Many, many thanks to endurro for sparing some time to help out with this project :inlove

A special subtitle project means an instant download from me! Thanks for your work, endurro and DreamScape. And I glad to hear that endurro is still around helping with subtitle projects.

How did the process go of translation?

Similar approach to what I've used before. I ran Whisper a few times with different models and also on a different audio file that was created with Ultimate Vocal Remover. Went through line by line picking the best match and then handed it over to endurro to review and make corrections.

It was a bit of a puzzle for me because Whisper confused all of the character names with different things. Granted Piszczalka does have an English translation of "Pipe" which I chose not to use.

Thanks for this movie and the subtitles, DreamScape!

I'ver never used Whipser with Polish, but I know who much work it is with any language...
