Step-by-Step eMule Setup
Re: Step-by-Step eMule Setup
What even are the chances of getting caught downloading pirated movies anyway?
I sometimes get paranoid about this but i'm guessing it's a low chance of getting caught

Re: Step-by-Step eMule Setup
Nobody wants to waste taxpayer money putting me in jail, despite the FBI warnings on DVDs. The "entertainment industry lawyers" that Night mentioned used to target people for MONEY because they downloaded MP3s, but money I ain't got much of so I am a low-priority target.
Re: Step-by-Step eMule Setup
Yeah, i don't have much money myself
So if i do ever get caught, i have no money anyway lol

We won't be able to buy our way out of jail, so they will have to be really determined to punish us. They used to send pirates to the gallows, right?
Re: Step-by-Step eMule Setup
If you download obscure foreign movies that are few years old, like most of us do, then nobody cares.Moonee wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 4:43 am What even are the chances of getting caught downloading pirated movies anyway?
Downloading (and especially sharing) latest movies that are running in your country can be risky, but in order to get caught, they need to get your name and address from your ISP, which can be difficult, depending on the law of your country. If you do get caught, they harass you with pleasure, regardless if you have the money or not

Tbh, I pretty much never download piracy (only on very rare occasions)
I pretty much only stream piracy online
Which is far less risky right?

so, they mostly only care about the latest blockbuster/high budget films.. They don't really care about the lower budget independent films?

Re: Step-by-Step eMule Setup
Well, pirate hunting is typically done by 3rd-party companies and not for free. Low budget films usually don't have budget for that.Moonee wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:09 pm so, they mostly only care about the latest blockbuster/high budget films.. It's mainly uploading/sharing that is punishable. Downloading or streaming probably does not make much difference.Moonee wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:05 pm Tbh, I pretty much never download piracy (only on very rare occasions)

An online friend did get into trouble using a streaming service (Popcorn Time), but that was based on p2p (sharing).
Many users just use VPN to feel safe.
