I think eMule is working fine, and my problem is flow of information - I am disconected somewhere. Ie, somewhere I have something that is stopping flow of information
Okay, let's check your status bar shows red arrow(s) on right bottom of the screen. It means your eMule is disconnected. Yellow = lowID.

I will try to help you but you might see a bit different information because I use other version named aMule

Find 'Servers' or 'Network' tab on top of eMule
Add this link http://upd.emule-security.org/server.met to 'Update server.met from URL'
It should make 9 server list appear. I use eMule sunrise

Add this link http://upd.emule-security.org/nodes.dat to KAD section - might be similar to above.

It should help you to archive lowID and I will post how to archive HighID.

You have to allow incoming connections for the eMule.exe in the WIndows Firewall. Then open/forward the TCP and UDP ports in your router (the ones in your emule settings under "connections").
can we do this step by step?
Is lowID working already? If not, try to get lowID working first. It should work pretty much out-of-the-box. Incoming connections and router tweaking is not needed.

Once the basics is working, you can try the advanced stuff.

There are many users who cannot get highID working at all, because incoming connections are simply blocked by ISP. eMule downloads still work fine with lowID unless eMule is blocked totally.

I followed your instructions, and I have lowID. I tested by downloading some picture, and it works.

I did tried with 20 of diferent files, from smallest word files to 1 Gb films, but everything is "status-waiting"
I am new to eMule so I don;t know what I can change so files start downloading. I read about queue in first post. I would add some files to shared folder - but I am dificulty finding it

so, how to get to highID?

lowID works. All files are "status, waiting" though

Also, when searchign files, there are some info that I don;t know what it means. "File name" and "size" is clear, but what factor is "availability" and what "complete sources" - and should I disregard some of them?

With LowID you are limited to downloading from those with HighID. From memory this includes ghost, deadman, Devil, jezevex, Skalman, TheProjector1979, pillowbaker (and others). Try some of their (recent) Releases. Files you find on emule using the emule Search tab might NOT have HighID sources. Even with HighID sources, they might not be online all the time or you might already be downloading another file from them. That puts you in "Waiting" status. Complete Sources is if a file is fully shared 100%, Availability is the supposed number of Complete Sources; neither of these figures are very accurate but give a general idea. If there are 9 available then you will probably be able to download it easily! Your Incoming folder is automatically Shared. Click eMule>Tools>Open Incoming Folder... to open it and you can add files to have them available for sharing. You can also create a new folder in Windows in the area of your drive you are willing to share; in the same top folder where Incoming is would be reasonable! Then in eMule, go to Options>Directories and navigate the folders on your drive until you find the one you want to have available for sharing. Put a check mark in the box, click Apply and then OK and the contents will be available on emule for sharing once your emule client processes the existence of the files. (A minute or so.) Naturally do NOT share any folders that contain private information or Windows program files or the like. Stick to using folders that only contain movies, music, etc you want to share. In the Shared Files tab you can see what Shared Directories you have. Click on each Directory separately to see what is in each folder, or click on All Shared Files to see all of them.

Excellent and keep fighting. :)
As mimzy explained about many users are difficult to get HighID and Night457 explained about LowID's ability.

Let's do a quick analyze before configuring to get HighID.
Log in your router and try to find your public IP from WAN or internet section.

Public IP should anything outside of ranges as written below

Private IP:
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255.255

Once you have found your public IP differently from above and write down your notepad or paper.
Don't put your public IP here - it is okay to post the first digit (number) and the rest censored (e.g 2.xxx.xxx.xxx) If you need help confirming it is public IP or not.

Google it and type 'whatsmyip' - select what you find comfortable and it shows your public IP from this webpage point of view.

If the result (public IP) from your router and the webpage you visit is same - you can get HighID
If your router and the webpage show different public IP - It is difficult to get HighID, unless VPN or ask your ISP to get 'port forwarding' supported.

I followed your instructions and checked, an both IP are the same, meaning I can get HighID

So what is the next step?

Edit: just to note, when we started, I never did this before, and I couldn;t even install eMule on my PC - today, I have lowId and on the way to get HighID

As a personal note, I have on my HDDs almost every (good:) movie or TV series in high definition. I paid to get them, and I live in a country where piracy is not focus. I will spend some time figuring out how to connect all my HDDs and how to connect them to eMule without exposing the rest of my PC, so all my personal stuff is 100% protected, probably attaching another older PC and making it hub, you can all share in what I have collected ovr the years. Since I was a kid it was my desire to have all movies on a tape at home, as you could only rent them from videoclub in that time :) than later I started collecting for my kids, with idea that it is better to have stuff in hand, as internet access can change, as well as laws regarding copyright :) Other than movies and TV series, this includes a ton of music I love, like usual plus tens of Gb of fantasy music from games, TV shows and similar I collected over the years
What I am trying to say is, I hope I will be a fruitfull addition to the community

Your technical trick to find out if HighID is easy to get truly astonishes me as I have never encountered any such analysis. THANK YOU so much for joining this discussion and deciding to help. Your knowledge and abilities are far beyond my own.

Spoiler:

By that do you mean that piracy is not common? Or that the government and copyright lawyers do not focus on it? Or that it is not common because it is restricted and prevented by oversight and regulation? A note of caution for your personal protection: using a VPN helps to hide your online identity but certainly does not guarantee it. National security agencies looking for terrorists can surely see through them. It is a reasonable step to use one anyway for those who are not on high-profile watchdog lists and not going out of their way to cause trouble. Newer movies are more likely to catch the attention of copyright lawyers rather than older forgotten ones. Those who provide pirated material are more likely to be targeted than those who just download it; and those who run a server providing access to huge quantities of copyrighted material are even more likely to be targeted. Even if they "win" their court cases it still is a serious life disruption to have to spend time in court! The fact that new movies and TV series are easily available on torrent and/or emule proves that many people are willing to risk sailing the high seas of piracy, but perhaps they have learned how to hide their online identities or live in countries where they are at low risk of being stopped by governments and lawyers. There are FLM members who are here specifically for the hard-to-find movies that no one is likely to object to being shared online. I might be overly serious here and I am not trying to terrify you, but I do want you to enjoy your time here at FLM and not find yourself hounded offline by lawyers looking to sue you out of existence! Despite my warnings I have stopped using a VPN and tell myself that I am a very low-priority target; that lawyers can not get blood from a turnip; if the authorities lock me up then I will at least be done paying taxes. :D

Yes it means you can get HighID, but no promise.

Now it gets interesting as it gets more difficult - where I or anybody cannot provide a standard answer to solve your case. Because many routers implemented way different from other. I know you can do and keep fighting. :)

To have HighID working reliable - You need to check and configure on router, if necessary
DHCP Reservation:
Check if your router does have 'DHCP Reservation' - if it does have, then mark the computer you want to use eMule, if your router can do.
At worst, you have to type mac address and IP address on router manually. Information can be found in 'ipconfig /all' in cmd from the computer you want to use.

DHCP Reservation means your router will always give the computer the same private IP infinitely. So you don't have to maintain settings of your router often.

Alternative:
If your router doesn't support DHCP Reservation, then you have to find DHCP setting on your router.
Typically DHCP settings for many routers. Some routers might show different numbers.

Start: 192.168.1.2
End: 192.168.1.254
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

You have to make it shorter by

Start: 192.168.1.10
End: 192.168.1.254
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

It means you can give the computer static IP from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.9 - you pick whatever you see fits.

or

Start: 192.168.1.2
End: 192.168.1.240
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

It means you can give the computer static IP from 192.168.1.241 to 192.168.1.254 - you pick whatever you see fits.

If your computer is configured with static IP or you use DHCP Reservation and you can browse the internet without issue.

Next step: Read the third post starting with 'Port Forwarding' from this link viewtopic.php?t=17040
