Universal Machine

Shot in the Arabian desert with a haunting backdrop of the Burj Khalifa, Universal Machine is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a gifted young girl must find a way to understand and overcome a violent encounter with a life-like android

New York-based director and artist Daniel Askill enlisted a host of international creative talent for this project. Renowned American minimalist composer Philip Glass scores an ominous orchestral piece undercut by a stirring mezzo-soprano. Belgian choreographer and Beyonce’s 2017 Grammy performance director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui planned the elaborate fight sequences, while the android was CGI mapped to Japanese dancer Tzuki Kozuki. The star of the film, Evnika Sadvakassova, is a boxer who gained the Guiness World Record for the most full contact punch strikes by a female in one minute. She won this accolade in 2018 at the age of 11.

Hey that was a pretty fun little short. Different from what I was expecting. Wish there was more.

How do you find these, Unigami?

As for how I found it...

While researching children's movies that I watched years ago, I come across such gems. Or...

I discovered Evnika when I randomly came across her Instagram account. Usually random videos appear because they are among my hobbies or the genres I watch most. Then I see that I immediately follow strong and athletic girls. Sometimes these people notify their followers from their own Instagram accounts. So, as you can see, I usually learn about such different and distinctive films thanks to the account holder.

If you pay attention, there are independent channels that broadcast original and different short films. I usually find these through various methods, including the many videos I watch about my hobbies. And when I come across such videos, I both like and follow them. So, as you follow and like, beautiful and meaningful videos appear before you. *--*

I appreciate your meaningful answer, Unigami. I also find myself surprised when I come across a video that is recommended to me due to my clicking habits. ;) I have come across a few shorts this way and discovered short film channels (KIS-KIS, Omeletto, and YAPTV). I don't have much presence on the other large network sites, like Instagram, so I am grateful there are others that share what they discover from those areas!

I am sitting on a pile of shorts I've been meaning to share.
