Re: [REL] Den Attonde Dagen (1979)
This looks like quite the interesting and rare movie. I didn't get more than two sentences into the description before quickly averting my eyes and looking for a download option. Many thanks for the VHS rip that is still being shared to this day, ghost.

Can anyone tell me exactly what happened at the end of this movie?
The final scene wasn't clear at all. The final scene was not clearly visible.

Here is the plot summary given at the Swedish Film Database (English translation):

The original page is here:

The meaning of the end sequence is unclear. Is this woman her older self? And if so, does that mean the whole film is nothing but her reminiscence of a summer from her youth? The disappearance of her friend could simply mean he wasn't allowed to stay despite his own promise. He only spends one week a year with his father on the island. This too is unclear. Why was the house so empty? Could it be the boy himself was never real?
If anyone has more insight please share. This film hasn't inspired a whole lot of discussion on movie boards or anything like that.

I wonder if it was too late after Anna locked the child up? Because...deadman wrote: Fri Aug 29, 2025 12:08 am The meaning of the end sequence is unclear. Is this woman her older self? I could easily get upscaled and subbed version of many Scandinavian movies including Den åttonde dagen but available quality is even worse than viewtopic.php?p=127915#p127915 so no it won't happen. Maybe someone else? "Thanks anyway."Unigami wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:46 pm Can anyone tell me exactly what happened at the end of this movie?![]()

Re: [REL] Den Attonde Dagen (1979)
The film is based on two books by Rose Lagercrantz: Tröst åt Pejter (1974) and Räddarinnan (1976) (republished together in 1990 under the film's title). Reading them would certainly be helpful to understand the film's ending, but unfortunately I don't believe they're available in digital format. They are available in paperback from several online bookstores or from Google Books.deadman wrote: Fri Aug 29, 2025 12:08 am The meaning of the end sequence is unclear. Is this woman her older self? Please. The existing English subtitles are enough for me. Thanks again. If there are subtitles available not only for this movie but also for other Scandinavian movies, could you please share them? Please. *--* Thanks so.Skalman wrote: Fri Aug 29, 2025 6:55 amI could easily get upscaled and subbed version of many Scandinavian movies including Den åttonde dagen but available quality is even worse than viewtopic.php?p=127915#p127915 so no it won't happen. I also found a link. But I don't know if there's a book this movie is based on.
